If you are prepared to wait a long time, spend money with AD on other items or take everything and anything offered to you, I think those are generally your options. A few years ago, you could get pretty much anything you wanted from AD with a brief wait if it wasn’t in stock. Comparing today’s market with the market of even 2018 is not a fair comparison. In my creation of a relationship with a new AD, I had to wait over 2 years to get a Day Date 40. My only prior purchase was a Tudor. I got many calls for watches I did nit want. Now, this is in a non-big city market, too, at smaller mom and pop type store, which I love.

All four of my wife's from AD. All three of mine from Grey.

Why? Because no dealer will sell me a men's SS model

Will go Grey again for the next one. I'm done buying jewelry, ends up being the same out of pocket.

Only AD, can’t afford secondary haha. Everything on my signature is what I got from my AD.

I've purchased a few from both.
Currently only holding (1) from an AD and (2) from grey.

Since the market went upside down, i am off Rolex until things change for the better.
Can't see putting myself on list to buy a watch at MSRP, and can't see myself buying grey at over price.
Something will need to change for the better before i go to either. Until then, i am indulging in other brands.

Do people only have one AD they buy from? Back in the day, I shopped around for the best deal.

Only purchase from AD. You can always ask for a SS Daytona at any AD, it never hurts.

Daytona 116500LN, Sub 116610LV, DJ41 x 2, 126710 BLRO, and SD43. All from AD. I personally would never pay grey market.

Oh and a dj31 for my wife.

Between Mrs C and myself we have purchased 12 Rolex watches in total, 4 for her and 8 for me, all bar the last one for the wife have been from an AD but to be fair we paid about £1400 below list for it a 2021 diamond dial, diamond bezel DJ 36 on a jubilee bracelet so I am fine that

I have only one Rolex (and no desire for more), which was purchased from an AD. I also have two Tag Heuer watches, both of which were purchased from an AD (two different ADs).

I got all of my pieces from an AD except one, my BLRO, which I was lucky enough to get just above MSRP. While the grey experience was (thankfully) pleasant, I’m staying with AD’s now.

Anyone who only purchased Rolex from AD?

No plan on getting solid gold or two-tone models as of yet (things may change later).

Just curious, is there anyone who ONLY purchases Rolex from AD? What watches have you gotten from them so far?

Also, once I develop a great relationship with my AD (with 2 purchase history of sub and GMT - absolutely no intention of selling), will it be reasonable/possible to ask SS Daytona as a 3rd watch?

Yes, I have only purchased through my one AD. My history in order of purchase/delivery:

2019 - 2021
Tag Heuer Monaco quartz
DJ41
BLNR Jubilee
SS Daytona black
Starbucks

I have never purchased anything else (jewelry, etc) and only purchased those watches.

The only one I do not have any longer is the DJ41 (it was stolen). Here they are in the three watch, Rolex travel pouch my AD gave me at Christmas:

My Daytona was my third purchase (in fact I’m wearing it right now looking at your post). I received it 58 days after my first inquiry.

Having said that, the environment is vastly different even from 1 1/2 years ago when I got mine.

I've done both, AD or Grey. Whichever is appropriate for the time. Life is too short and unpredictable... so if it makes at that moment, I don't mind going grey.

As for the OP's question... Nothing is impossible, and depending on your relationship with the AD and the AD itself, you could very well get a Daytona as your third watch.

However, if you would say what an average AD does... Asking for a 3rd sports watch and Daytona to boot (after only having bought sports models only)... the chances are very slim if not impossible. I know every AD from my city would probably laugh as soon as you went out the door.

But that's just my city.

2 from ADs
2 Grey

Of course I always want to buy from an AD. But if I’m missing something and it’s discontinued, I’m patient and will wait till I see a good opportunity at a good price. 2-5k over retail doesn’t bother me a whole lot. But rn there is nothing I want bad enough to put 2/3/4x retail

I’ve had a dozen Rolex since 1984, and there’s been a few distinct buying phases. In the modern era 2017+ I bought a BLNR, BLRO, SS Daytona, and OP41 all from the same AD. The only one I ever bought from a grey/reseller was a DSSD in 2008 when they first came out. There would have been a bit of a wait from the AD at that time and the grey was immediate and cheaper.
My current AD is a Rolex only Boutique and they happily sold me four SS Professional models with no additional purchases or requirements like buying a DJ or PM model.
