I think they appreciate knowledgeable clients, as long as they are nice and respectful. It's one way of gauging a client's interest in watches.

I have only delt with grays because Rolex ADs don't have the time of day or wathces for me these days, so nothing to talk about. On the other hand, I have had great conversations and buying experiences with many grays, with whom I have built relationships. I don't go in as a smarty pants know it all. But I do like to let them know that I have had a few watches on my wrist through the years. I think that they appreciate it because I might be a buying customer, and not a lookie loo. Often I have become a repeat customer, so they know I am/can be a serious customer. Of course, one thing that I always do is wear a pretty expensive or popular or unusual watch to set the tone. The first things SAs do is look at your wrist and not your face. Once they see I am wearing a nice piece of Swiss movement on my wrist, they know that I have potential and we can start chatting.

Big difference between the doctor patient dynamic and the SA client dynamic. Anyone who regularly visits webmd is no where near a doctor. Anyone who regularly visits TRF is probably more knowledgeable than a large percent of SAs.
