40" won't be too big, I have 2 DJs 36", feel too small, but after a day or two, won't be too small.

It looks fine but if you perceive it to be too big that might be hard to change. Watch sizes definitely play tricks on your perception. Maybe give it a little time. And if you still feel the same way. Stick to your recipe.

I'd buy a DD36 and walk away. It isn't too big though.

I think 40mm looks great on you! I think your wrist might be like mine. 36mm fits me just right, 40mm looks good on me but is about as large as I can go. I tried on a 42mm piece, and it's just a little too big for my comfort.
