Glad the hype is starting to simmer down and hopefully demand is cooling. I would love to see most Rolex models available to view and purchase at the ADs like they were in years gone by. The hobby was more fun before Rolex became white hot.

This rule has not been introduced recently, so I was only surprised by its sudden enforcement.

As you were active in these threads, I thought like you and have found some value. :)

PS: as a mod/admin elsewhere I understand how difficult and often subjectif it is to qualify posts and enforce or not rules.

Most people have more important things on their minds right now then silly watches. Couple months back people were crying about not being able to buy a sub now they have to worry about their mortgage.

Here's a thought. You don't have to click on every thread/post. We can all just choose to ignore the ones we find not interesting, and move on to the next one that does indeed find our interest. "Incoming", "wearing", "is this one better than this one", etc etc. Nope. So I can just ignore those. Try it. It's very simple. :)

Very, very true. As with everything, things moves in cycles. One thing is pretty certain, the energy crisis we're currently seeing will not make things any easier for a lot of people out there (unfortunately). Crypto, which is very much connected with the rise of grey prices of popular luxury watches, will fall even more. It's, IMHO, a ponzi scheme and the market will take care of things like that. As it always have.

Cheers,
Joe

Ok Joe, I will try not opening up every thread in TRF. Thanks for the sage advice. Anything else?

And don’t try to talk about how advertising watches as “MINT” (usually a lie), as some ‘trusted’ sellers here do, or your post will get deleted, like mine did. Like many things nowadays, watch prices are just a mass delusion to keep most money flowing to the top 1%.

You have one total post, there are no responses?

People get a new watch and they can’t post about it? That seems draconian to me. If you don’t like those threads, then don’t open them. I don’t read every thread posted. You can do the same.

Have to agree Brian and especially the history of the RWC which now sadly takes second place on forum now.

I will mine crypto for extra income, but I will never put money that I care about into it.

If we can get back to talking watches, instead of what they are worth and if they can survive a swim in the pool that would be great.

So great to see prices falling for potential buyers and collectors vs. flippers

The price factor will always be whatever but that is only a momentary cost or entry to the actual watch. TRF is about the watch. It’s the hyper focusing on the cost of admission to the actual watch is what TRF is not about. Much like going to a concert and bitching about the cost of the tickets the entire time the band is on stage performing. Or worse yet, pointing at the vip seating up front and calling them a bunch of fools for paying too much to see the exact same show you are viewing after camping out 2 days for tickets.

Well said. I will add that for some, it’s more about the chase than the actual ownership experience.

Surely there is room for both the people discussing the price of admission, and the people enjoying the show.

And also for those who've just secured their ticket.

Nobody reads all the threads, just click the ones you like.

Rules are rules, but moderation should not interfere with this process.

No that's not it.

The deleted thread, the one on Dayton's was droning on on and on not even about prices anymore but about threads and if they should be allowed.

IN fact the last post made was yours...then closed

In fact the Mods have gotten much LESS strict in allowing endless threads about investing and valuations.
