I love these watches; I wish they would do applied numerals. Would a display case Santos be too much to ask?

I really like the all black ADLC despite the flat dial. I started looking for a more upscale alternative, but keep coming back to Cartier.

You would have to go with the blue dial steel Santos or blue dial PVD and steel Santos to get applied numerals. I'm guessing they don't do a display back to keep costs lower and because then they would feel obligated to do a more decorating/finishing of the movement. My other 2 Cartier watches have sapphire crystal display backs, and those movement are engraved with interlocking Cs rather than the more basic finish on Cartier's with closed backs.

I think in the under $10K price range, these watches are a tremendous value in terms of quality and various specs (100m water resistance, anti-magnetic to 1200 Gauss, inhouse movement, and "Quickswitch" bracelet system. I've seen the Santos compared to a time only VC Overseas, which has a more finely finished movement and is a great watch too, but it also costs substantially more.

Wow that's great news!

May I ask who you talked to, and what boutique?

I'd like to inquire about something as well.

I'm sure there is a cost for this, did they give you any details?

Like maybe you'd pay retail plus 50% more or so?

Thanks!

The above is not mine, but someone I know has commissioned a Tank LC in platinum, with salmon dial and Breguet hands. The projected cost is more than twice the price of the standard large model in rose gold. Granted he has changed the case metal, dial and hands. He had originally heard about 50% more, but the more you modify, the more costly I believe it becomes. Consult with a sales associate at a boutique and they can put in a request for you and then you will get accurate information about what whether they will make what you want, and the cost of doing so. The guy I know was told it will take about a year before his watch is ready, but he had a lot of fun considering the style of dial, the numerals, the hands, etc.

What Dino stated is accurate. My asyemtrique was approved and the sales associate is waiting on pricing from corporate. He said it ranges, as Dino said, depending on the case metal, dial, hands, etc. that is chosen. He also has seen pricing of custom platinum pieces come in much higher than if it had been chosen in another metal. For instance, a platinum piece may be priced 50% above retail whereas pink gold would only be 30% more.

I feel like Cartier is killing it right now. They've gone back to their roots to stay true to what made them successful back in the day while updating the dials and color schemes so that they have a modern look. Pretty much everything Cartier is releasing is hitting the mark.

Currently, the only dark dial medium Santos is the blue dial steel model with diamond bezel.

Went to the boutique thinking that I wasn’t going to like this one, but ended up walking out with it. It’s much more interesting in person.

That’s not even that huge a markup when considering that otherwise comparable watches are usually about 2x for platinum what they are for gold.

New Alligator Band

Finally got the right color band from DRwatchstrap. Very nice fit and the blue gator matches the dial perfect.

Not the best photo, but here is my blue dial large Santos, with friends who are wearing a Tank Must XL and a medium steel and gold Santos.
