I’d wait til your able to purchase the watch. If the first watch you purchased for buying history are you able to trade that one in towards this watch? Of course if you prefer the explorer more.

It doesn't matter what it might potentially ruin or not. You can't afford it and you have done the only sensible thing under the circumstances. My AD would understand because on the two occasions when a couple of watches were likely to appear in quick succession they asked me if I wanted to drop back one or two places on the list for a breather. I'm sure they do this with all their customers who are serial buyers. I can't speak for any other AD.

Such is life! Focus on your financial health. A lot of watches out there for when the "play" fund is solid.

**Update** I called my SA and let her know I need to pass. Told her I'll set the money aside again later this year and swing by the shop once I'm in a position to be a real buyer again. She seemed totally fine and said "it'll sell so don't worry" with a chuckle lol. I'm glad I just took the pass. Hopefully this doesn't harm my chances for future allocations but I guess only time will tell.
Thanks all |

I mean if it's something worth flipping and help ya financially, I'd do it. I ain't judging anyone..it's just a watch at the end of the day.
I did it for my lv sub last year (got the call when my union issued a 2 month strike ). Sold it for $23k overnight to bobswatches. Paid off my cc and and cleared my wife's as well with the other left over change. It was money that was well needed and helped me clear out some unnecessary debt. Now in a much better place and on the same AD for a polar dial exp2. Ya don't need to disclose everything to the AD either. Was quoted 3-4 months so hoping to get it by summer. |

I do the same. Used a balance transfer to finance my last Rolex, 3% fee for 20 months no additional interest. Have a 3-year car note at 0.99%. That was a year ago, but couldn't replicate that today. That door has shut for awhile I'm afraid.

No kidding. All the basically free money from the credit cards has disappeared. It wasn't that long ago for a 3 or 4% transfer fee you could get interest free cash for up to 18 months with no interest re-capture if the money was not fully paid off after the term.

Good for you not overreaching financially for a watch. You'll get there, enjoy the anticipation, watch will mean more when you get it.

Told my SA about 3 weeks ago that the Pepsi he had for me should go to the next on his list and that I probably wouldn’t be ready until spring/summer. Taxes are the worst!
His response? “I understand, let me know when you’re ready and I’ll make sure you have a Pepsi” Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

It’s the only current model that interests me. Been thinking about getting on a list on one of the neighboring cities. Are you telling me it took 18 months??

The grown up decision is to graciously pass and explain your current situation to the person you are working with and express your appreciation for the consideration. They will understand as they're like everybody else(only the size of the numbers are different) and hopefully you can re-visit the possibility with them at a later date. Things are generally becoming a greater challenge these days for most of us |

I admire your sense of personal responsibility. I don’t request a watch often from my AD but early on it was suggested to me that if I ask and it gets offered then I get one chance at it. Consequently I ask when I’m ready to buy and I stay in a perpetual state of readiness until it’s offered. Admittedly this is hard but so far they’ve come through. Did the AD Pavlov me or did I train them? Either way so far they’ve always delivered.

I should have added….if your AD values relationships then it won’t matter one bit if you feel it isn’t the right time for a large purchase Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I passed on a blue faced sky dweller. Was never a watch I wanted but it was odd that it was offered to me as I had never seen a sky dweller on sale in the case at my ad. Could be a fluke or just things lightening up.

Should have bought the actual watch you wanted grey instead of buying watches you don't want. Hard lesson.

Could politely say not a good time I once turned down a watch as my house completed that month, and it didn't work for me. Incase very overt and didn't hinder me back then |

Would be a poor financial decision to finance on a CC.

You made somebody happy. There are people down the line who are waiting for a chance to buy their first Rolex from AD. I believe that’s how I got my first watch because I didn’t really do anything apart from declaring interest and wait. There had to be at least one or two other people who chose not to buy before it was offered to me. And, to be honest, I almost chose not to buy because I am sure the prices will go down more and more, but I wanted that Rolex experience, and wanted to have it at the time when everything still seems regular and nice.
You made the right move. |

I imagine a lot of people bought things they couldn't really afford during the peak. Fear of missing out and such.

You did the right thing. No watch is worth putting yourself in a bad place financially.
You’ll be in a better place eventually, and then the hunt and purchase of the watch will mean a lot more than if you pulled the trigger now. |

Good choice to hold off on the purchase. Buy it when the time is right for you.
I put my name down on the list earlier last year for a Submariner and turned it down the first time offered because it wasn’t the right time for me. Second time was the right time and had it on my wrist the day after I got the call. |
