No - it's a dull lifeless metal.

Use it on the SR71 but not on a watch

I never understood the heaviness thing. The lighter the better, IMO. It's also weird to me that people say light feels cheap. Invicta and the like have been making heavy watches for a long time.

This one weighs like 450 grams!

If it were titanium, then it would have to be priced lower than its SS and gold equivalents.

Not when it's RLX titanium... Anything to bump the price.

My Pelagos was a scratch and gouge magnet, so likely not.

As others have stated, different strokes…..I’ve had Panerai Ti and loved it! Was no lighter than some of my Rolex. Some people just can’t step away from what they know and are comfortable with, most people never knew my Panerai was Ti, in fact prolly got more compliments on it than many of my other watches. Never noticed any special aging with it, looked like new when I parted with it close to a decade later

Agreed. My Pelagos 39 Titanium weighs more than my Daytona 116520 does on leather with the Rolex clasp or rubber B on the clasp. Both very popular choices for some Daytona models.

Never hear the Crown guys complaining about the Daytona being underweight or feels cheap. Somehow, with the Pelagos they seem to have hit a sweet spot with the weight. I’ve had titanium watches before that feel lightweight and cheap. Pelagos doesn’t feel or wear light and certainly doesn’t feel cheap .

Exactly! Most of the people saying titanium feels cheap have never had a titanium watch. After wearing one a SS feels so primitive. Like having a carbon fiber bodied car but complaining the light feeling of the doors feels cheap. Right…

Yes, I would. I already own two watches with titanium cases and bracelets (Porsche Design by IWC and Zelos Swordfish 40 Ti) and love the way they feel on my wrist. If Rolex came out with a Titanium model with the right complications (date, 2nd time zone, 200 meters WR) I'd be interested.

Nah. Not 100pct Ti in a Rolex.

I think there’s other brands that have a massive head start and better value proposition than Rolex does for sports Ti watches, no matter the marketing spin they try. Even the Pelagos comes to mind.

But it is a great alloy. A lot more expensive than stainless steel, but I don’t know how much is required to make a standard watch.

https://steeltube.co.in/titanium-vs-stainless-steel/

Price
Titanium $32.00-$48.00/ Kilogram
Stainless Steel $1.00-$1.40/ Kilogram

Re lighter feeling cheap...my most expensive watches are my lightest...and now I view that lightness but with quality as easily more impressive than a slab of gold or steel on my wrist, granted not that there anything wrong with it!

A lot of folks wouldn’t, unless it says Rolex on the dial and then they’ll buy anything.

Its a definite NO for me. Titanium not only looks dull but its too light. Light feels cheap and cheap tends to be flimsy. Its all mental tho because I own several Titanium watches lol. But when it comes to Rolex, I think shiny and luxurious… there’s nothing shiny or luxurious about my Titanium Tudors or Panerais…. i think

depends on the grade of Ti, plus the end results. Not grade 2; has to be grade 5+ for the 'refined' feel, fit and finish.

Blancpain does it flawlessly, so does FPJ, and Lange (Odysseus Ti is a dream!)

Your right.
It's fine for a DSSDC or a DSSD caseback but not for anything that's got to look the part and at Rolex prices, they better look the part.
To that and nobody is seemingly aware of it, but there are serious complications with polishing the stuff and it's in a different world altogether. Imagine what one will get with regard to case and bracelet refurbishment. It could be a real dogs breakfast and people are particularly fussy as it currently stands
IIRC, i think i saw something in recent times where Tudor don't or won't refinish their Titanium cases, but I could be wrong about that and if I'm right it tells you something.

It's probably best left to those willing and capable souls at GS

My favorite watch to wear around the house is a Ti Omega Seamaster on a Nato strap (NTTD edition). Super comfortable and (at least in my imagination) more scratch resistant than e.g. my BLNR. So I guess that's a yes.

Couldn't be more wrong, as anyone who's ever ridden a good Ti bike frame knows.

Had a ti Seamaster that I regret selling to this day but it helped me move up to my first Rolex. Perfect for sports and I did not have ANY issues with scratches or gouges in 5 years.

I would be first in line for a ti Sub or YM.
