Haha ah I see now, apologies for being a little slow there

I’m thinking I will just pull the trigger, recognise a good thing for what it is, when life gives you lemons and all that

I found myself in a similar situation last summer with an unexpected offer for the BLNR after 2.5 years. However, my desires had changed and BLRO is what I really wanted - so I passed.

Stick with what you love/really want and you can’t go wrong IMO.

If your asking a Rolex forum whether you should buy the most popular model (and one that many people wait for), I think you know what the answer will be.

I like my BLRO so much I'm selling my BLNR. Cause when I wear my BLNR all I can think about is my BLRO.
Buy the BLRO--easily could be my one and done. My all-time favorite timepiece!

Congratulations.

My 12 has developed a clasp fault - I can't take it off!

If you're already thinking of divesting of a watch that you don't yet own, why buy it in the first place?

When I already know the outcome is to sell, then the target is set in my mind: How to convert the highly coveted watch into as much money/trade-in value as possible for the next watch on my list.

Then I'd look at the unwanted watch on my wrist and wonder if I'm banging it around too much and whether the nicks might decrease resale value. Then I'd tell myself, "...but it's a Rolex!" with an easy laugh...but then another ding would remind me of a decrease in trade-in value. The target was set from the beginning.

Over time, these thoughts will gnaw until the watch sits in a drawer collecting dust but remaining in relatively pristine condition while I peruse listings for the watch that I really want that's that's currently in various watch dealers' inventory. But then I'd wonder whether I can trust those particular watch dealers with shipping and selling? I'd also realize with their quote that I won't even remotely realize the prices displayed on chrono24.

This story resonates with many watch hobbyists I know.

Personally, I would pass. I know from experience that the enjoyment wouldn't be there...even from the beginning. No honeymoon phase even before thinking about whether a mistake was made. The above sounds exhausting to me...even considering the spread between MSRP and trade-in value.

YMMV

You waited long enough. If you can swing it, you should buy it and enjoy it for a while.

I would buy it in a heartbeat. Move on from the 16710 if needed.

Buy it and don't look back. It is extremely rare to be offered one.

That's a thing! You want to wear it 24/7, but Omega has an actual clasp problem (must go to jeweler)

Some pics as requested by folks. Couldn’t be happier with the 126710, and keeping both is not part of my current life goals - thanks for all the input

The 126710BLRO is nothing like your 16. You potentially have two of the best Rolex Rolex have produced.
This is exactly what I would do as well, except you may decide to keep both. I am on the list to get the BLRO and prepared to wait years.

Really an awesome pair. Why not keeping both in a medium term and enjoy their differences?
