I’m not sure why Blansky was so triggered but his post crossed a line and ultimately got him banned. That’s unfortunate because I enjoyed many of his posts, even though we didn’t always agree.

As a Canadian (living here I might add), we still have strong ties to the monarchy and to Britain. I for one am proud of that affiliation.

He seems like a good guy and I enjoy reading some of his posts also.

Unfortunately he has gotten a few good threads closed because of his political sensitivity, in my opinion.

An interest article can be found here explaining the role of the monarchy and why it may matter to some.

Well. With all due respect. Seems a little light compared to what I’ve gotten for far less than saying an entire family should be beheaded.

That said, I don’t agree with him often however many of his posts spark discourse and I enjoy the discourse even if I don’t comment on it.

It was the most diverse coronation ever, which was planned by the longest heir-in-waiting.

Spectacular - and glad England can celebrate in such a fashion.

Yes, of all the hills Blansky should choose to die on(get banned), this never featured in my imaginings but I see it's only for 7 days so he should be thankful for an act of clemency in this time of celebration haha!

I thoroughly enjoyed the entire coronation. Considering the time lapse since the last one it was certainly epic.

The planning, the practice, the whole thing must have taken months if not years of work to pull off, and I think they did a wonderful job. I understand the discontent people have, about a Monarchy in general and spending so much on a single event when the money could be used elsewhere, but I also feel it is important for a country or culture to remember their identity. There is a story of some town in the South of the US (I think it was in South Carolina?) during the civil war. It was bombed in to nothingness, practically completely destroyed, but every Sunday every person put on their best clothes and they had a concert and picnic. The concert was held in a roofless building and most of the clothes were in tatters, the food was probably horse meat (or worse) but the people maintained their traditions. I feel (think) that this event gave the Britons a little amount of time to be proud, remember their heritage, and applaud their traditions. For this, I say it was a good day to be British and I congratulate all you over there on the other side of the pond
Completely agree. I’m glad that the UK has traditions that bring them together. Believe that we could use a few more things like that on this side of the pond.

I can only imagine being a moderator on this or any forum is frustrating and hard work so I applaud and appreciate those that rise to the task. IMO, TRF tolerates way too many insulting posts and should more aggressively ban some members permanently.

I’m a bit surprised the Premier League is playing the same day. I’d have thought they’d want everyone’s attention on the new king.

Interesting connection with football is that Zadok the Priest, the coronation anthem since 1727 for the George before the one that lost America, is also the theme tune to the Champion's League, so there were many watching wondering why this football song was suddenly being played in the middle of all this regal glory and pomp. They were then waiting for the Match of the Day tune to escort Charles out of the Abbey.

People have different feelings about these things, what I saw was, in general, a lot of happiness. I am in hospital, the nurses all got dressed up, bought us all non alcoholic beer and made cakes and sausage rolls as well as decorating the ward with bunting.

I hope you are on the mend….

Interesting thread, Steve. I didn't watch the spectacle because I would have missed too much Lady Diana. My previous post sinked (was removed) much faster than the Titanic and the amplitudes of my 32xx watches

Anyhow, a great day for the UK

My mom was glued to it when I woke up the other day (we are on a family vacation). I don’t take interest in the royals but far be it from me to besmirch the monarchy from our glass house lol

My fiancé said it’s a shame Charles had to wait so long to be King, and won’t get to be so, for very long. I replied, “given his parents’ longevity, he could have about a 20 year reign.”
