People never usually notice my watches but in the few instances they have (friends, colleagues etc) I offer to let them try it on. Usually they are so nervous about it they either don’t want to or they hold it and hand it back. I will show them a cool feature or explain what I think is interesting about it and that’s about it.
I’m not worried about fingerprints or otherwise but to each their own. |

I’ve never had a friend comment on my watches. I wear a Rolex probably 90% of the time. In the past 15 years that I’ve done so, once I had an uncle comment on my watch and once I had a coworker. A few times a stranger who’s into watches has.
For whatever reason, it’s very rare that I hear a comment on my watch, but I’ve never had anyone try to grab my arm or wrist to get a better look. I wouldn’t respond well if they did, but would probably be stunned silent for a few seconds if it happened. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

A six-year-old is old enough, unless suffering from a developmental disability, to look with his eyes rather than his hands and to know what "No" means.

In 20 years, can count the times someone commented on any of my watches on my two hands. Nobody has ever grabbed at them.

It's all good. It feels a bit humbling to share, ya know. One of my faves was lending a PP 3970er at a lux show to a friend who really needed a bit of a 'pick up'.
In the end they all eventually get serviced and come back fine. It's what happens in between that memories are made of. Believe that Enjoy your Time

In 20 years, can count the times someone commented on any of my watches. Every time has been a passing compliment. Nobody has ever grabbed at them.

Hi, I agree with you. It is true its a metal piece and that some finger prints or handling them would not hurt it, but I dont feel comfortably....especially for example when its a chronograph and people start pushing its buttons. So I politely say " See but dont touch" sorry. I rather appear as a watch nerd than feel the stress of some one who carelessly handles it and may even drop it or intend to move parts or whatever

I don’t think people ‘suffer’ from developmental problems so much these days. This century even. Plenty of evidence of happy integration (despite some obvious difficulties) in this very thread. |

I ran into an old acquaintance at a party and it turned out he's also really into watches now. He was sporting a Panerai Luminor Marina and asked to wrist-swap with my SkyDweller TT. After a second of consideration, I thought why not since I never tried on a Panerai and I find them quite fascinating, especially given their history and old ties witj Rolex. We did and that was that... |

Don't touch the watch!
Several years back, I was at a Christmas party. A guy noticed my Submariner and wanted to see it. I knew the guy but not well. He’s like a friend of friend of a friend.
He asked if I can take it off so he could get a closer look. I said, “no, I don’t want to take it off.” Truth is, I didn’t want to give it to him. He insisted pretty assertively, so I took it off and let him hold it. He was staring at it, and honestly had this look of amazement on his face. He really liked what he was seeing. So I felt like it was good to let him hold it and get a good look at it. He really appreciated what he was looking at. I could tell he really wanted one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Suffer? Really? I know many individuals with developmental disabilities who are the happiest and intelligent individuals you’ll ever meet. You seem to be stuck in 1950 Alabama.

I've had a tt serti sub ,( now gone) a ss hmt and a yg blue dial sub. No one has grabbed my wrist.
In fact, they get very little attention.ive only had a few comments Here and there when out and about.

No one has ever grabbed my arm to look at my watch. Maybe because they're smeared with greasy fingerprints from my kids playing with them? Who knows.
This thread reminds me of the guys who go to rock concerts and stand with their elbows out to the sides looking to fight anyone who bumps them |

I guess in today's world having a person touch your watch makes it a "tool watch".

Are there still people out there who use a (SS, TT, YG) Sub for diving purposes? As far as I can tell, divers nowadays prefer all-one electronic devices to read the time, gauge depth etc... |
