Nice pair of watches.
It really depends. If the watch has already been allocated to a customer it’s really not great from the AD to let other people try the watch (especially on the Daytona the bezel is a scratch magnet and so easy to put them on!). If the watch arrived at the AD and hasn’t been allocated yet to a customer (even if the list is already long and full) then I understand the AD letting other people try the watch.

If I pay for a watch and it’s just waiting for me to collect I would be very angry some people try the watch and worst case scratch it!

You probably don’t haha.

My 116718 they had a jank one in the case that had been handled too much. I was haggling a discount on that one and my SA was like nah let’s just order one. It was definitely worth it (to me).

Like Kat said, you used to be able to order sealed from gray market dealers. My AP ceramic diver was still in the plastic, never opened, blank card, and discounted. So nice!

I'm glad you enjoyed the pics. You can definitely feel the heft of the gold Daytona versus the SS SkyD even though the SkyD is a substantial watch in its own right.

Some people still have a fundamental misunderstanding of how this works. The AD doesn't really have a list.

It's not like a John Mayer comes in and they go to the list and call the first person. They hold these watches for the "right" person. In the case of this particular watch, it's sitting there until someone comes in and buys a 5 carat engagement ring. Then the SA will say, we have a watch you might want to see.

No one cares if the watch was touched by other human hands. That's just insane that people think, no human hand should touch my watch before I buy it. It's not a steak.

Great watches, I love the green dial YG Daytona, getting the call on any could make your day!

Every watch I have bought from a Rolex AD was first presented to me fully stickered. It’s not until I hand them my credit card and they take the watch (and CC) to the back to charge me and then remove the stickers, and size it. When the watch comes back to me all stickers have been removed. And that process always surprises me how long it takes.

Our AD called my husband and I recently to ask if we wanted to see a special watch. We did. He took us in the back room and brought out a $380,000 Jacobs and Co watch. Fully with stickers waiting for its owner to pick it up , we got a demonstration on how it worked and got to handle and try the watch on. For me it was much too large to even try. But it was nice to see and handle this watch.

Same for me when I've bought watches from my Rolex AD. But you can bet your bottom dollar not every AD follows this procedure.

Really? There are definitely a list of people from which the AD will pick to give the call. I have already seen tried full pm Daytona at ADs where the polished bezel already has hairline scratches. If a watch doesn’t sell, stays in the window and being tried by potential buyers I get that. But such a hot piece where there are a hundreds of people waiting to get the call - why take the risk of scratching it by making it available to try by other people?

The watch should still be fully stickered, so it won’t get any scratches on the bezel. Not sure what you saw .

The AD is close to OP and wanted to share the watches with him. I also tried on the exact same model Daytona at the AD. It was neat and no big deal otherwise.
People try on expensive watches every day.

Really? I didn’t know that. I have bought a couple new Daytonas from an AD too and never noticed. That seems odd they would not sticker the bezel.

Oh, of course. The bezel protector instead of a sticker. Makes more sense now. I never thought that through.

And yeah, they never leave the bezel protector on when displayed or trying on.

OG...pay no attention to those that use the forum to correct what they see are faults in human nature. As a matter of fact, you got a chance to try on some amazing pieces and then did one helluva job taking pics of both. I am lucky enough to own a YG Green Dial Daytona and have never been able to take a pic that shows the dial as well as you did. Thanks again.

I thought you need to retain the stickers to keep the value of the watch at an over inflated level.

Do stickers with previous customers wrist/arm/God knows where from hairs attached increase or decrease the resell value?

Jokes aside....a brand new watch that has been allocated should really be handled by the allocated buyer first.
