Is this ‘the call’?
Quote:
But J Crew isn’t the same thing as Hermes and Rolex. No matter how much we want it to be. J crew isn’t selling anything where demand outstrips supply by a factor of 10. Not accepting that reality seems naive. And frankly, if a Daytona or a Birkin bag were as easy to get as a pair of chinos, I seriously doubt nearly as many people here would want one. |

I would have bet money that was the call. Maybe they don’t know what colors they are getting in, just models, or it’s more likely he figured you’d take any 36 mm OP. Well, sounds like it’s coming soon. Good luck! Kat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

ADs who are still playing silly games and wasting customers' time, like the OP's AD seems to be, need to stop it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1vc...ch%2CThatWatch |

It was as expected. I would be unhappy to have had my time wasted like this.

Sorry OP maybe salty this morning but this isn't called a "super nice experience" it's called "wasting your time". If the AD had called and said - I know you're looking for XX but I got a shipment with a couple of interesting options that may work as well... That is a great visit. If you showed up after a prodding and he blatantly wants to sell you something that you didn't ask for... That's NOT an awesome experience |

A total waste of time.
If the shop didn't have the watch the customer wanted, absolute basic, bare minimum courtesy would require them to tell him so before inviting him to trudge into town! Dishonest and disrespectful behaviour. My personal view is that the OP should not have sucked it up. |

Nailed it - wasn't the call.

That’s unbelievably poor service from Watches of Switzerland.
Some people called it but I really found it hard to believe a professional AD would do that without letting the customer know in advance it was an alternative. I don’t lose my temper often but I’d have given the SA a total bollocking on the spot for wasting my time. |

The guy said he was happy with how it turned out, that's what matters, not what you guys think about an imaginary meeting that never happened lol Nevertheless, while it wasn't the call the OP had hoped for, his AD now has a better understanding of him; they've had more interaction, and it's a forward step, they at least know exactly what he wants and that he's not out to try and flip whatever he can get. Sounds to me like he'll be getting his watch soon enough. |

I agree with Neil. This guy had a good visit with his AD. For the whole gang here, have you ever NOT enjoyed a visit to your AD? I’ve enjoyed all of mine, and only walked out with a watch twice. It’s always fun to look at what’s on display, try some watches on, and do a little recon.

I don't disagree but he LITERALLY wouldn't have gone into the store if the AD / SA hadn't called him in to "show him stuff" only to try and sell him a watch he didn't ask for. Please. If I just drive by because I have nothing else to do and want to spend an hour having a coffee and talking watches I get it. If I "expect the call" only to be shown stuff I didn't ask for, that's called something else. I'm not telling someone how to feel - I am telling you how I WOULD feel if my AD pulled off some stunts like this... it's moved way beyond a joke at this point |

If nothing else he spent a bit of time exploring the hobby we all like and building the relationship with the AD. Win win and the AD did say to come try on watches, OP assumed he got the call. This is the game, and this is the way. And he was offered a watch. He’s at the top of the list for when his desired piece comes in.

Exactly how I see it. OP had a positive experience, to his way of thinking, so why try to make him feel negative about it? I’m pumped for him. He will get the real call very soon, and when he does, we will have matching 36 mm Oyster Perpetuals. Kat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

OP was offered a watch which, while it wasn't the watch he specifically wanted, being offered a watch to buy there and then puts him in a much higher bracket of first-time customers. At this stage he's lucky WoS even took his details down lol To everyone else moaning, the guy enjoyed himself, let him have that at least |

Hi guys, for everyone saying this is a waste of time - I live 10 mins away from my AD, so believe it or not it was not a waste. Anyway, I have been on the list for 3 weeks so being offered at least a black dial for that amount of time seems a pretty good deal for me, although I didn’t end up buying it - know several people who waited 6+ months for that.

He could have discussed the upcoming delivery with you over the phone and asked if any of the models he was receiving was of interest to you. Think about how much time it would have saved all of us of TRF?
