I sometimes feel guilty for about..00001 thousandth of a second then, I’m good
Life is too short as I’ve learned recently. Enjoy and live my friends that is all you will take with you. I’m not one of those shoulda, coulda, woulda, people. |

The question suggests two issues, so it depends why you feel guilty. First is whether there is an acceptable amount of money to spend on oneself, as opposed to on others. We don’t need to go through life being martyrs, but of course we should take care of our obligations before buying ourselves luxury goods. I don’t support a deadbeat dad (or mom) spending $$ on any luxury item while refusing to support his minor kids. There are many people with a ton of credit card and other debt that feel compelled buy luxury goods to create and maintain a fake facade, of a lifestyle they can’t really afford. The second implicit question is whether we should be spending money on a Rolex watch when we can get a timepiece for far less. That of course applies to clothes, cars, houses, etc. Do you feel “guilty” for buying something “nicer” than a purely utilitarian version? If so, does this apply to other areas in your life? Do you get enjoyment from your watches? Do you spend more than you can afford? |

10 Years ago I'm walking through O'Hare Airport...
And I run into a friend from the 1980's-we cut our teeth together as rookies at a big brokerage firm. He asks to see my ticket-show it to him, and he says you should never fly coach ever again. Asked him, why? Because when you're gone your kids won't be flying coach. Have never flown coach again-and feel no guilt when treating myself to nice watches, dinners, vacations, or wine.

As others have said, part of it is having perspective and appreciation for the privilege of being in the position to participate in this hobby.
I'm modest in almost all things. Watches are my "almost". |

No, because I didn't acquire any Rolexes before my family was safe, secure, and well taken care of, and our children were through school, and our retirement estate was sufficient to prevent anyone else having to take care of us financially in old age. I've spent no more than a small fraction of a percent of our net worth on Rolexes. Fact is, I've probably been too conservative.

Guilt maybe when you are younger. But when you are older, it just becomes another transaction.

In my case no. What I spend on watches has no impact with my financial responsibilities.

I can't feel guilty for working hard and having the means to purchase the watch I want, hence it's not stressing my finances, it's a hubby I enjoy.

i'd feel guilty if i felt guilty of being guilty.
But when Krispy Kreme taste this good, you gotta just sit back and let your sugar stream flow. Was guilty once, but then soon realized i was mistaken. Meh, it happens.

I’ve had more expensive and less wholesome hobbies and nothing to show for it so I feel good about watches. I owe nothing and I keep no secrets, my family is cared for and I keep up with my charitable giving. My guilty days are behind me.

Yes. I used to feel like that all the time (I no longer own any expensive watch).
For me, it’s not that I couldn’t afford them, it’s more that I felt like an idiot spending so much money on something so insignificant (and that I should be more worried about more important aspects of my life). |

Never had buyers remorse after buying a watch. Have had buyers remorse after buying other things! So, no. No Catholic guilt or Jewish Guilt or Guilt Guilt. |
