My Grandad was also there but 40 years later (RAF). There is a huge amount of well preserved history from all periods. It's a great place both above and below the water.

Oh definitely! But in reality it's just another potential point of failure. Like an old carpenter friend said about skylights, "Why put a hole in a perfectly good roof?"

The reality is that saturation diving has always been pretty uncommon and specialized. Commercial divers time is monitored as closely as an astronauts and with decompression schedules lasting days or even a week, no one is monitoring that on a rotating bezel... Much of their work has been taken over by surface controlled ROV's as well.

Great picture, my Dad went to Valletta regularly in the 50’s & early 60’s when he was a Hydrographic Surveyor in the RN. We went there on holiday in 77/78 when I was a kid and he bought his 6426 there which I remember him buying and I have it now.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Dr Earle who's been diving with her ladies datejust for decade and no, Rolex didnt buy it for her..lol. She's a ocean explorer and featured in tons of National Geo and ocean magazines. She typically dives around 50m deep with the DJ on. I recall she was mentioned in one of the Rolex hardcover magazines last year or so.

That being said, I'm in the middle of my PADI certification and been using my sub date. I wouldn't trust a 100M WR watch for actual diving as water pressure changes very quick in depths. I've also worn my Panerai earlier in the year in Hawaii during our "pool" diving practice session (10 feet..lol). My pam is 100m WR and it was fine. I prefer my Pam more though for vacations (snorkelling/swimming etc) cos of the super soft rubber strap.
