[QUOTE=clarencek;1391461]The seller obviously misrepresents his products. He should be outed regardless if you come out OK from this. You'd be giving him a pass for fraud.

Yes, out the seller.

Hi, Sorry to hear your mess, but as long as you paid by PayPal, I think you'll get your money back within 2 weeks if you want to return it (I would). You just need to give Paypal a call or open a dispute from ebay.

Gosh that is shocking. I am very sorry for you, an I sincerely hope that you get this matter resolved in the least costly way possible.

I just got my new 16600 a couple of months ago and it makes me wince at what these beauties can degenerate in to with lack of care and prolonged wear!

All the best going forward with this

"Condition" is always subjective. A few scratches or dings= character to some, abuse to others. Your only yardstick is what other watches in similar condition are selling for. If it were a steal, it wouldn't bother me. It looks as though it's priced the same as other watches in much better condition.

Major Misrepresentation!!!! as stated "return to sender".

I've been there and done that a couple years ago an a very expensive piece, I was 100% refunded and written apology!!!

That SD needs just a bit too much TLC for my liking :-( and I think Greg is spot on, if the outside looks like its been dragged across the road at 300MPH, the internals might be on the verge of an aneurysm :-(

$3400 is way too much for this beat up watch.
If you dont return it, I would maybe consider fixing the clasp, not worry about the rest of the bracelet if its for daily wear, and leave the scratches and dents alone.
Still cant believe the misrepresentation, the watch is worth half of what you paid.

Wow, there's no way that watch is worth what you paid for it. You could get one in excellent condition for that price.

To be honest, I don't mind the condition.

I'd have it serviced and the crystal replaced, put it on a NATO strap and wear the snot out of it.

IF... I'd picked it up for about 1500.00 or so.

Way too much money for that condition. I'd keep it for a 2000.00 refund.

Refund. There have been SDs for sale here for a little more, but much much better. You would fare better sending it back, and getting a better watch, for less money. Ron

I would request a refund or at least $2000 back. That is one beat up watch.

WOW , Someone really wore the snot out of it!

$3400. is WAY to much for a SD in this condition, I would be OK with it if I had full discloser on condition and paid around 2k, I would probally get the head serviced approx. 600.00 and wear it on a strap while watching for a good used bracelet to come up FS around 5-600.00..

I think a crystal is 125.00 but I could be off, a full serice bill from Rolex with bracelet would be close to 2k for sure.

Definitely ask for a refund.

If the seller acts funny, you would have recourse with Ebay/PayPal/AmEx. I have found PayPal to be not very cooperative. AmEx is real client friendly and will immediately refund, if you raise a dispute.

Because between Ebay's dispute resolution, the PayPal system, and the credit card you use for PayPal, you actually have *triple* protection. 3 areas of recourse in the event of a greivance.

Now, let's compare this to, say, buying from a TRF member. The only recourse you would have here is social/shame in nature. Very little in the way of legal. I'm not knocking the sellers here, I have had only good experiences and have bought/sold here. I'm just saying that in terms of the legal recourse you actually have, buying through Ebay is not just tossing money out into the wind and hoping for the best.

So, yes, you obviously do not get it. I'm not a doctor, so I can't speak to your question about whether or not you have a mental defect... sorry.

Agreed. I am not worried at all.

That being said, I just came back from Rolex Canada (it is just a quick subway ride from my office). She ballparked me $2500 for the following:

1. New Insert
2. New Crown + Tube
3. Polish + Service
4. New Bracelet
5. New Crystal

They did have their main watch repair gentleman (sorry, I don't know what the techincal term is and I can't remember what she did call him) that came out to see the watch. He was confident that it would come out looking as new. He mentioned the deep dents could likely be buffed in a way that would make them nearly unnoticable.

Wow, i understand how disappointed you must be and i am very sorry. What i would do is contact the seller and demand a refund. Keep us posted on how things turn out. But at less you found a good place that could repair it.

I was totally out of line, and am sincerely sorry. I do not know if any of you here have taken Ambien for sleep, but I was posting while trying to get to sleep, and had taken my first Ambien. I did not recall even writing this post, until I noticed my computer was still open on this thread. I will not have the computer on again after taking an Ambien. I am a little embarrassed.
I am sorry this happened to you, and hope you get your $$ back.

Slap to back of head deserved,
David

The key to a resolution here is to do what you do quickly.

Do not wait, but file for a refund as soon as possible. Again, do not wait. Time is not on your side in these things.
