I have a nice Sieko - Kenetic, a Rado - Jupiter (auto), a Hamilton - 14K Thinomatic, A Hamilton - 14K Thinline Manual and an Elgin - 14K Tank Manual. I consider these cheap.

I also have 2-Ebels and 3-Omegas and a Longines that certainly aren't Rolex but I enjoy them.

If I wear anything other than my DateJust it is the Ebel Sportwave (Quartz) while golfing. The Hamilton Thinline or Elgin Tank are manuals, look good and easy to wind and wear for dress. There is something to be said for a fine manual wind watch thats always ready to go.

An indicator of Rolex vs Cheep could be the # of pictures I have taken.

I've got a couple of Japanese watches, an Ironman, a Suunto and a Russian Volmax Aviator. Really digging the Aviator, it's got character that matches my Breguet Type XX.

Don't knock "cheap" watches, what you lose in "pose-value" you gain in real world use and practicality.

I love my seiko's, I have a Skagan as well and I really like wearing this Sandoz MKII conversion, Keeps great time and I barely know the difference between wearing this or one of my subs

Cheap? No. Inexpensive? In relative terms, yes. Marathon SAR GMT, Hamilton chrono, Hamilton Ventura, WWII Pierce chrono.
I have no issues wearing the appropriate watch for the right conditions regardless of value.

Before I got into the Rolex addiction, I collected Casio multifunction watches. They all have analog dials, chrono, multi-time zone, date, 1 or more alarms, some have countdown timers, and all have data storage capability.

My current collection:



The one in the upper right corner is an "atomic" watch. It's the one I use to set my Rolexs by.

I've got a Revo and another non-Japanese chrono thrown in there as well.

For some reason, even without thinking about it or realizing it, I ended up having several watches. My Explorer II is my only high-end one, but I also have:

An automatic Orient (I _love_ the button on the side for quickly changing the date).
A Swiss Army that looks like it was "inspired by" the Yachtmaster.
A dressy Benrus.
A sporty Lorus.
A fake G-shock (yes, I know. I was watchless on a weekend trip and I just needed something on my wrist to tell the time).
A Timex Atlantis.
Two Suuntos (Mosquito and D6) for diving.
A Japanese watch that was a promotional item for my grandfather's company (so it's more of an emotional value).

The Alpha is actually a pretty good watch for only $100. Our moderator Padi has one that he's tweaked a bit with the regulation, and I believe he has his down to within COSC specs.

Nice Precista - don't see them too often as they get picked-up fast.

I had (and still have) many inexpensive watches. But, all of them are interesting at some point, and most of them are nice Seiko chrono`s, or 5`s!

I use my sub, dj2, and breitling chronomat evo equally as my daily wearers. I figure buying a beater for normal use would be like covering up marble steps with iron plates to protect them from damage. Sure, the marble will never get hurt, but you might as well have gotten iron steps to begin with.

Plus, I've decided that if something is so monetarily dear to me that I end up not using it then it's probably something I couldn't comfortably afford in the first place. My current mindset is buy what you can afford, take care of it like you should, but use it like it was meant to be used (it also helps that I work in an office and don't have to worry about really beating up my watches).

That said, I did find a Seiko sportura kinetic chronograph that I got a couple of years ago because the technology looked cool and the watch design was very different. Think I paid a couple of hundred for it, wore it once, and never thought about again because I got my breitling shortly thereafter. I'll have to dig that out.

Yes I have a Invicta 9938 (looks like TT sub) with an ETA movement that is a tank of a watch that was only 200 bucks.
