Realized that I haven't shared my story on my SD.

About 4 months ago, I got crazy lucky since I found a very good deal and traded my old 2015 116600 for this 2017 BNIB.
I went to my usual AD (where this watch also was sold from), watch still in stickers ect. They quickly had the watchmaker look it over, adjusted the bracelet and then they put my name on the warranty card and noted the watch serial with my name in their system. He couldn't understand how this was sold without a name on the warranty card to begin with, but that was just my luck....!

Very unusual, congrats! Enjoy this mint SD4k. The 116600 is super special piece, I really love its dimensions and how it sits on the wrist. I think it is still somewhat underappreciated for what it is:
1. First SD with ceramic bezel
2. First SD with modern solid link bracelet and glidelock clasp
3. Last SD without the cyclops
4. Last SD in 40mm
5. Very limited number produced in merely 4 year of production.

What else I am missing?

Agreed. Although 2 year production run rather than 4.

No it’s all original Rolex - insert I changed with original ceramic Rolex insert and boom the only one in the world, anything after is just imitation.

But while the matte dial set it apart from its brother the Submariner Ceramic ref.116610, collectors later discovered that some of the new ceramic Sea-Dwellers were produced with glossy dials.

Interesting, I had a 2014 and now a 2017, will try to find similar light conditions to take photo of the dial. I’m sure the 2017 is not glossy but it might be darker.

My 2017. It's number 3 116600, I have. One from may 2014, one from 2015 and this from dec 2017.
All have had the exact same dial color/ matte ;-)

Haha no-no, not at the same time :-) I sold one, regretted it and got one again. This late 2017 which has my name in the warranty card and which I got brand new, stays with me ;-)

I don’t believe this dial Mk1 and Mk2 after having looked closer. It’s rather that the dial just looks different in different lighting.

These are pictures of a 2014 one, same time, Direct and indirect sunlight. Unfortunately don’t have close up of dial better than this.

Wear in good health, I'm beginning to think those different dials rumours aren't true at all now, a trick of the light at best..

I looked at a late model in my AD and no matter what angle it was at, I couldn’t get it to appear dull/matte/satin.

I was wearing my own at the time, and in the same lighting conditions my dial changed dramatically depending on angle.

I got lambasted one here for suggesting the rumours were confirmed as true. So maybe it was just a one-off dodgy dial. But I do know what I saw, so I do know that there was once upon a time at least one 116600 with a gloss dial!

Not teasing. It’s absolutely true. But...I’ve seen no evidence online or otherwise since.

Just curious but do you all seem to notice that there are several batches where the bezel is slightly misalighned to the left?
