My 116710 takes a few extra turns to get the seconds hand going than my 116520. Is this normal? I'd say on average, the seconds hand on the 116520 gets going after 20 or so turns (after it has stopped). The 116710 takes closer to 40 turns or so before the seconds hand starts moving. Do I have a problem? Once the seconds hand gets going on the 116710, there are no significant timing issues. Thanks for your input.

Is there a way to tell what bezel came on the watch based on the serial number? Assume no paperwork etc..

Stick dials and some other minuscule differences can bring crazy prices. I don't get it, but apparently everyone else does.

The OFFICIAL GMT Master and GMT Master II Owner's Thread
After more than a year of drooling over this thread, I'm happy to share this U-Serial 16710 Coke that I just purchased from the original owner. A very complete set with boxes, AD purchase receipt and appraisal, booklets and tags, and an unnamed guarantee certificate. It was originally purchased in the UK in 1998.
Interestingly, the dial is marked T<25 yet has luminova hands and plots. My understanding is that Rolex did not want to waste T<25 dials when it was transitioning from tritium, so they painted those dials with luminova instead of throwing them away. Cool little tidbit IMO. The watch is also fitted with hollow end links, which I've grown to appreciate as a 14060m owner. Extremely happy with this purchase and glad to finally join the club! |

I wonder if the GMT will get the same treatment as the Sea Dweller and the Explorer II --- a move to a 42mm case. I'd be down for that.

Hoping the Explorer II goes back down in size to 40mm. No more 42mm Rolexes, please. That's why God invented Panerai's. |
