I wear all of my watches in regular rotation at work, and, in fact, want people to notice. I am in sales/consulting in a very commission-heavy industry. I work very hard for my money and want to inspire people around me. Not everyone cares about watches and I certainly don't rub my watches in their faces, but I don't hide them either. I am the boss of quite a few people and several of my top-billers earn more money than me and that's what I expect. Several of these guys (who make more money than me) seem to be really interested in luxury watches but lack a little confidence to pull the trigger. I am trying to encourage them to enjoy the money they earn.

Because I am in sales, I wear suits every day and generally feel my Rolex watches are a little too sport/casual for business meetings so generally rotate between my Patek, AP, and Vacheron for most days. The vintage Speedy goes on the wrist on Speedy Tuesdays and then my Sub-C or 16710 Pepsi gets the call on casual Fridays. Weekends are almost exclusively my Rolex beaters.

I do hear a lot of my consultants worry about wearing nice clothes/watches in front of clients as they worry that the clients might think they are paying us too much money. But you make a lot of money because you are successful (the best). Clients want to pay for the best.

I figure life is too short not to enjoy nice things. That's the incentive you have to work even harder.

I get it. Some people are very closed minded and judgemental especially where Rolex is concerned. Its a fine line to walk sometimes with work. Since I am no longer in the working world it doesnt make a difference to me. However I am still cautious when making large purchases. I dont wear any flashy jewelry until its all over. I dont want the person in sales thinking they have an easy mark.

Due to the nature of my work I can never my Rolex to work.

My clients would think I’m not in the position to own luxury items.

A Rolex garners my wrist most days...my boss is really my clients so I tend to wear my 39mm Explorer to appointments because unless they know watches it is pretty under the radar.

100%

No one at work, including the owner, wears a watch, much less a Rolex. I wear what I like, don’t flaunt it and couldn’t care less what others think.

The reason I bought the Air-King

I do wear my AK everyday. It doesn’t scream Rolex, ie Submariner and no one notices. AK, the most un-Rolex Rolex out there and I love it !

the next question is do you walk to work so no one sees your car? Do you wear cheap suits and leave your tailored ones in the closet? How many holes in dress shoes are required before wearing to the office?

There is a delicate balancing act required for optics, I learned this the hard way as a 22 year old kid who bought a porsche only to have my boss make my life miserable for 2 years out of jealousy. With that being said 10 years of wisdom later I've realized that outside of a few WIS most people don't notice my watch under my dress shirt cuff and outside of public political meetings I don't avoid wearing any of my watches.

I could never wear my watch to work because of the heavy machinery I'm constantly around I would never take a risk of damaging it, but there's a UPS store that I go to any guys constantly lifting heavy boxes and packing and shipping stuff out and he has a submariner on his wrist every single time I see him

Nope. The public already thinks my profession is full of money hungry greedy scumbags. Last thing I want to do is flaunt my expensive watch.

Yeah. I work as a scientist and have yet to run into another watch person. My boss and several colleagues actually asked me over lunch what watch I was wearing, and I had to rather sheepishly tell them it’s a Rolex. My boss was like “that’s great, there’s nothing wrong with having nice things” which I really appreciated. Wearing a Rolex is definitely something I downplay/obscure at work though.

I dont wear any watch to work. i dont like to be stressed about time if I'm on a tight schedule. Also I dont like knowing if the day is going by slowly. With that said, I'm very punctual and my staff does their best to design a schedule that I can keep to. There is also a hygienic component to which I need to adhere.

I love to wear my Rolex to work, but my colleagues are a bunch of low lifes. I'm just concerned what my boss thinks, while I certainly don't care what they think, my position is not safe to be honest.

I wear them once I'm back from work, on my left wrist has my Datejust while on the right, my Apple Watch :) I love my Datejust!

I’ve worn a sub or an AK for over 30 years and I think I’ve been asked about it 3-4 times usually by someone that likes subs. No one has ever mentioned the AK

Maybe these types of threads should be deleted. So childish.

Just wear the watch and enjoy it. To heck with anyone else.

I mainly wear a few modern and vintage Speedmasters in rotation. My colleagues never notice they’re different watches. I wore my Daytona only to the company holiday party. I also don’t drive my GT3 to work. The Macan S makes a much better daily and flies under the radar
