THIS JUST IN
After the launch of the Antarctique Rattrapante Silver Grey last summer, demand was strong to release a new version of this very special timepiece. Today, we are pleased to present you the new Antarctique Rattrapante: The Rattrapante Ice Blue. This new, sportive and open-worked split-second chronograph now appears with a touch of blue that enhances the hands and rings on its dial by using sapphire crystal. The transparency of this material allows now an even greater view on the Grande Complication mechanism. The Antarctique Rattrapante Ice Blue will be available in a limited edition of 99 pieces. Orders can be placed on April 2nd at 3PM CET exactly.

This is absolutely fantastic. If it were smaller than 42.5mm I'm not sure I'd be able to resist.

Really? Czapek's website says sold out and certain dealers are also claiming that their allocations are already spoken for. Where would you place an order?

I’ve learned over time to not go only by the numbers. And the Rattrapante is the perfect example of a much better fit than the numbers suggest. It doesn’t feel to me that it wears much different than the standard Antarctique. It also doesn’t feel like it had the ~15mm of height it has. Pictures are attached to show this. 17.1cm wrist.

Czapek has kept 1/3 of the pieces to sell directly to customers on their website. Those 33(ish) pieces are the ones that will be available to order. |

I'm both extremely happy, and sad, about the Rattrapante Ice Blue release. Extremely happy because it is a beautiful watch in a size I can wear. Also happy in that this give me hope that Czapek will continue to release Rattrapantes in limited numbers in years to come.
Sad that it will take me years to save up for one, assuming I don't get sidetracked by another watch and blow my money that way. |

Serious question: How does production and delivery work on new models like the rattrapante when an order for an existing model is like a year and a half out?

From what I understand the online system for the Antarctique "Drake" is separate from all other models. Accordingly to literature they were making 1 regular production Drake per day. Independently, they still have other watchmakers producing other models.

The subscription orders will be taken on April 2nd at 3PM CET exactly, Central European Time. So 9am Saturday NYC time, 6am Saturday West Coast time. If you want to order a Rattrapante, I advise you to be ready, in front of your computer at the subscription time to be sure that you will get an allocation. I believe it will not last long. Last year it took less than an hour to be sold out, I expect this year will be MUCH faster, even at $56,400. The first Rattrapante was less, but these colored sapphire discs are difficult and expensive. There will be a $15k deposit, and shipments will not occur until all the first edition Rattrapantes have been delivered, hopefully late 2022. We have indeed established a completely separate team to assemble the rattrapantes, it will not slow down production of the Passage de Drake three handers. |
