Thanks very much Dalip and Marc! On top of being just a gorgeous watch, it keeps the best time of any of my Rolex watches.

There was a point and time when I was really new to Rolex that I saw the Daytona in a different light. I wouldn't call myself a hater, just thought that it wasnt for me. UNTILL I SAW ONE UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL... omg

Not a fan of the all steel Daytona but the TT and solid 18K models are beautiful and fit the style of the watch better IMO.

However whats with the notion that any negative comments may be linked to jealousy or envy?? this is why Rolex on a lot of other forums has a bit of a bad rep. |

I've liked the pictures, but in person it didn't do anything for me.

I think there are a combination of things here.
Yes, there will be many who cannot afford this watch, and as a result slate it for jealousy. However I think there are also some who can afford it, but simply dont like it. I sold my sea-dweller to get a SS Daytona White Face. For me the chase was part of the appeal, and I still get stares when I walk into an AD..any AD I walk into says "how did you get one???" So there are many points here, yes, I am pretty sure jealousy is one of them. However the styling and size etc is not to every taste. Also, I see the DSSD get some abuse on here, and having tried it on, I personally think it is a stunning watch too.... Horses for courses at the end of the day! |

Is it "overpriced" in stainless steel... well yes. In stainless steel the Daytona will cost you almost twice as much as a Sub. In all gold the prices of these watches are within 10% of each other.
So a SS Daytona is not the value for money Rolex proposition... me I don't care, I still want one. |

Can I add my 2 cents please?
The word DAYTONA has "DAY" in it as well as "DAYT", but I don't see either!!

I like SS Daytonas and wanted one for years. I thought they were worth it in the $7K area but after waiting so darn long and never getting a call they are now $10K and personally don't think it's worth it. I got a Speedmaster Pro Moon instead and am happy.

If I happen to have one for free, then I will stop hating it. But if Rolex comes out with a 43-44mm version, I'm even willing to pay a premium. Therefore, my issue is that at 40mm, its too small for a chrono watch.

I don't get it and why does it matter anyway? Would any self-respecting person express "hate" for a watch out of jealousy? I doubt it and if they did why would anyone give their view credence by listening to them anyway. Personally, I only like SS divers. If I had the money for a Daytona, I'd buy a DSSD and go on a long dive holiday somewhere. It doesn't bother me that someone somewhere might hate dive watches and I don't hate the Daytona, I just have no interest in chronographs. If you have one, congratulations and enjoy it in good health. If you hate them, buy something else. Simple. As Nairn1980 said, it's horses for courses.

I wouldn't say I hate it but it aint for me. I bought 1 but sold it within few weeks as I felt it was too small. I replaced it with a gmt IIc and have no regrets.
