That watch looks fantastic!...if it were mine I would be tempted to do some
extra criminalization in the form of some after market sword hands and a military bezel insert....nice job though makes me wonder why Rolex dont do things like this themselves.

I really like it, very unique and striking.
While I prefer the original Submariner, I believe once you buy something you have the right to modify it any way you want (warranty exceptions accepted). No different to cars, guitars, houses, etc. If you like it, and want it, then go for it. |

I love it! If I had several Rollies I would be very tempted to do the same. I agree that a red second hand would look very cool. Whether it still looks like a Rolex doesn't matter. You have an AWESOME looking watch that has a proven 3135 movement. Bravo!

A win for sure! I would have kept the crown guards but it's your creation.

I think what some people forget is that THIS IS NOT YOUR ONLY ROLEX Seriously........I have 2 other SeaDwellers besides my 1 PVD version, and six other Rolexes to boot. Honestly, if I only had the money to own 1 Rolex, it wouldn't be PVD'd. However, I had a little 'play' money and wanted something that was different than what most had. I couldn't be happier. I agree............Jack is the man

This my friends marks the beginning of creativity and a sense of play in a historically solemn hobby of collecting and admiring horological timepieces. I look forward to the future!

subking.. Did you literally have to grind out the crown guards?
I think it looks cool! I wouldn't never do it. But hats off to you bro for even trying. The result looks amazing..! Unlike a rolex, but I can see why you like it so much. |

I'm glad you like it, but wouldn't do it to mine.
What do you think this has done to the retail value? |

from a collectors stand point, its trashed i guess you could say. but from a custom sought after market, it could go for a slight premium. pvd rolex's are not cheap if you check out ebay or any other custom site like bramford or project x and or pro-hunter... theirs are thousands above retail. i guess it just depends how bad someone out there is looking for one. i can say many actors and big named people own pvd rolex's like bill clinton or jen aniston and many others. heres a snap of bill wearing his pvd sub pro-hunter on black nato. |

WOW ...Classic style ,elegence, history, pedigree, value, desirablity you succeeded in ensuring they are all completely gone oh dear oh dear - there is a reason why Rolex dont go down the custom route and these 2 watches explain why.

The crown guards weer put there to protect the crown, tube, and ultimately the movement.
That's like taking the bumpers off your car because you think it looks good. |

The only failure here is that Rolex doesn't offer this.

I have a well worn Explorer II, now 12 years old. All stainless in its' well worn glory. Now it needs to be gone through inside and out. I was looking at the Black-Out and Project X Designs and getting quotes. Now I need to figure out how to contact Jack at IWW. Can one of you fine TRF folks help me out with that pointer? BTW....for what it may be worth: I'd keep my shoulders and flip-lock....but I'd certainly go with white, silver or gold bezel numeral inlay. I like that matte black and I have plenty of other dressy watches to sport when I need them anyway. Thanks and Cheers to you!

They didn't have them because they had not invented the crown guard yet! (circa 1959-1960) Enjoy your "tool" watch... |
