Perhaps you are at the point where you should request a moderator close this thread? Sorry- no smiley here.
I am connecting the dots... going where the facts lead. Why do some people get a 30% discount from an AD, and other people get no discount? Is that fair?

If the AD books are opened and it is discovered that one group gets a better discount than another group, what other conclusion can be made?

A good nose for what? And who are "these folks"?

Have you ever thought the ones get 30% or any other decent discount may have a better attitude/personality when dealing/buying luxury goods? Or maybe he/she has a better/longer relationship with the AD.....

What do you think?!?

I think you should take some logic lessons. You are NOT connecting the dots, you are making up some dangerous assertions, not using any facts at all.
Where do you see ANY evidence that the distribution of discounts have any racial bias whatsoever? It may be true that some ethnic/cultural groups are more inclined to haggle over prices, but that does not mean that rolex or any other company is saying, for example, that such and such a race deserves x% discount and this other race doesn't.
What you have done in saying this is giving some uninformed person out there a reason to run with your ridiculous assertion if they come across your statement on a google search. How will you respond if RUSA sues you for defamation? Be VERY careful what you write on public forums!
Seriously- ask that this thread be closed or even deleted!

You just keep asking for and demanding things you have no right to by virtue of private property rights and free market trading practices.

What bestows on you a "RIGHT" to a discount? What bestows on you the power to invade someone's private business and open up their proprietary records?

Who has bestowed on you a "RIGHT" to buy a Rolex watch at a discount?

This is America, not a communist country where private property ownership is sacrificed by people like you on an alter of supposed "fairness"!

If you don't like the answer given it must be racism?

Yes, because Rolex doesn't want [insert race]'s money. That makes sense. I am convinced by that comment you are indeed a troll. Not that I'm a big poster anyway but this thread has seen the last of me. You know what they say about feeding the trolls...

Nice thread, I have learned a lot....economics, business, investing, etiquette, history, etc...I just realized I may have wasted some(not all) money on college education.

Where is this hostility coming from? And if it's not hostility, then why are you being so uncivil?

Take the $8,000 and...
1. Buy 2 TAGs - and then in 10 years sell it. Oh no, we lost $6000 there.
The point I'm making is that I doubt Rolex holds its value much better than some other watch brands taking into account the massive discounts on other brands. For example, the new Aqua Terra with the Omega 8500 movement retails for $4800. I can get it for $3300. I'm really not going to lose a lot of money on this watch if I decide to flip it years from now. If I bought it at MSRP or close to MSRP, you're right, Rolex would hold its value better.

Quote:
2. Invest in the stock market - oh no, we lost half there in the recession of 2008-2010.
3. Use the money to invest in buying a home (down payment) - oh no, now our home is worth 30% less than what our mortgage is!
I suppose you're right. Most successful investors buy watches to protect their money. Sarcasm aside, you'd be right if you're talking about the past three years. During most years your point would be moot. To address that, the example I mentioned was a fifteen year time horizon...Want to calculate what an investment in the S&P500 fifteen years ago would be now?

Please man.
Again, I don't see why you're being uncivil. Is it because I'm a new member who isn't part of "the club"? I made a pretty straightforward point. If you disagree with it, just say so, but the snide remarks don't represent your community here very well. I've read posts from people here who have acted nice towards the new members, even if they disagreed. So what's your deal?

Ironically some day this may be worth something, since all of them are probably land fill by now, and this is a perfect example of why the Swiss watch industry nearly died.

Another thread down the toilet!

Some people might want to rethink their posting styles or their time will be short here!
