bummer, sorry to hear that.

but as others have pointed out, it does seem a little fishy that you should encounter such bad luck on the week you bring your stuff home.

As mentioned already, you were most probably robbed by someone you know.

It's always best not to show off what you own, or even talk about it, especially if your home isn't 100% secure.

When I was in college I just had a SMP and it came with me EVERYWHERE.

Wow that's really crap mate :( Sincerely hope you get them back. Or least do you have insurance to cover the loss? You should still think of the replacement as hard earned - it's the same amount of work you still did and same result even if they're different watches. I think sometimes home insurance can cover stuff like this - might want to check it out at http://www.homeinsurance.org - good site that would have that kind of information I reckon. Hope that helps and good luck to you with everything!

havent read the entire thread nor the OPs original post but I did make out that you had your watches stolen and I am very saddened by your misfortune...I once lost a very dear watch and still hurts me today...and the worst part is, I have NO idea where I lost it..I mean it could be stolen by someone or its lost or whatever but I can understand your tremendous pain...I share your grief..wish I can help...best of luck tracking the bast**d down.

one thing I am sure went wrong could have been that may be someone had a fair amount of idea of how valuable your collection is so they focused on it naturally more...that could give you a hint as to where to look...but this is just my suggestion to help you out..best of luck.

Who would keep such a great collection at university dorms? Should have been in a bank or home but at a university where every lowlife is walking around .... it is like leaving them in your hotel room ....

I actually only ever took one with me to uni and rotated every few weeks when I returned home. Ultimately that is the ironic thing as they weren't stolen from uni, but my actual home where I believed they would be safe. But i've learnt my lesson, there's no way I'm leaving them out on display on my desk anymore, into the safe they go after each and every day!

Alex,

I am so sorry you were burglarized and they took your hard earned Rolex watches. Those scumbags will pay for that with instant karma! I also hope that those watches end up back at Rolex for repair and you get them back in your hands sooner than later.

Make sure you get an appraisal and add the SS BD Daytona to your insurance policy!

Wear it in good health!

p.s. by sharing your story with all of us you at least woke up many members on here who I am sure will now make sure they have insurance, keep they're Rolex paperwork and boxes separate from the watches and hide they're collections safely.

Well Rolex_Saiko, I apologize if my misfortune sounds fabricated to you, I wish I could say that it was but unfortunately that is not the case.

If you had read through this topic you would see the further update that I gave providing more in-depth details with regards to the break in which should give a better understanding of what happened. No-where in my posts did I say that there was no evidence of break in or that my watches were the only things taken, more so that mine were the most expensive items taken. I will not go into the specifics again, if you wish to know more about what happened then I suggest you take the time to read through all the information I have provided before making such derogatory statements towards me.

And please do not refer to me as some 'kid', you may not know me but such a reference is unnecessary and frankly rude.

I appreciate your apology but excuse me if I find your request a bit, well, unrealistic?

I'm not very well going to post my house layout and entry points thus essentially invite anyone to observe the images and break into my house.....

If you choose to take from this that you do not believe me, then frankly I'm not going to do much to dispel your belief as in a realistic world I am not going to post images of my house in order to remove your doubts. Such a request is highly unreasonable and mildly intrusive.

If i'm honest, I don't think anyone would consider me unreasonable for holding such a position...

The reality of this situation is that I have been robbed of two items that I worked at minimum wage through my holidays for 5 years to obtain and the reality of that is far worse than you not believing me so my sincerest apologies if you do not believe me.

You're telling me, upon request you would post pictures of your house layout, entry points and essentially give anyone with an internet connection knowledge of how to access your house? Well in that case you're a braver person than me, as I'm not willing to take that risk no matter what I'm accused of being.

So ultimately, yes, you can accuse me of being a liar, but that will not push me to react in a childish way and act in haste or stupidity. You don't believe me and that is your right. It doesn't change the reality of my situation.

Accusing someone of being a liar with no justification whatsoever?

Mods, I am no expert but banning should be in effect for this individual...

Freethinking or not, adding salt to the injury is not ok rolex. If you can't be supportive keep those negative comments to yourself or maybe you have never had the misfortune of a theft. Either way apologizing and then demanding proof seems a bit hypocritical.

Alex, I feel for you. Even if something less valuable/sentimental was stolen, it still is a horrible experience your privacy being invaded. I hope there is some headway made in your case, and hopefully there is something that your insurance can do for you. As stated before thankfully no one in your family was hurt. All my prayers go to you.

It sound pretty fabricated if you ask me. "Someone" breaks in and gets away with stealing watches..I mean ONLY watches? Hell, if you break into someone's house with that much confidence, mind as well take other stuffs with that intention in mind. It is hard to believe that this "thief" breaks into the house, goes up to Alex's room and then run outside the street with his collections! It is either a perfectly planned crime or a complete BS..I believe that a perfectly planned criminal wouldn't target someone he "knows" because such thief would know the risk factor is higher if he did. Ask yourself, what is the chance of someone being close to you and that person will break in to your house just to steal your watches behind your back? I mean, I doubt anyone would do that considering the risk..most people are smart enough to know that materialism over friendship is a bad idea. Unless your friend aka thief was real desperate for your watches, the chances are slim that this should happen. If you do realize that your friend was that desperate for your watches, you should probably have a list of friends who you can't trust and go on from there. Your posts never seem to incline that way. If there is a thief, I am assuming that this person knows you to a certain extent because he went straight for YOUR gold and never turned back.

I mean, someone just comes in and steal your watches and there is NO hint of evidence, trace or whatsoever? Like how did they break into your house? (did they break your window, etc) Did your neigbhours suspect anything? I mean, you can start by thinking who would do such a thing, who lives close to you, etc...If you are telling the truth, this should be a crime that can be solved. I am sorry if I offend anyone, it just that I find it hard to believe to a certain extent. A kid tells us a story on the internet...and we are supposed to believe it 100% without any sort of real evidence? Perhap more evidence might be more enlightening.

However, I still hold that I am suspicious of your story. Unless you can prove it to me, I am skeptical. Could you take a picture of your house layout? Show me that your room is in fact the closest to where the thief entered. Maybe even show me the window the thief broke into. Maybe given the size of the window, I can envision the whole process better. Any slight proofs beside words would convince me, I am not as skeptical as you would think.

I appreciate all the support everyone

On a much brighter note I am happy to report that today I went in to a local AD (Fraser Hart) to look at a SubC LV and walked out paying for a Black Dial SS Daytona

I initially got the usual spiel about how the waiting list is 5 years and they can't even put me onto the waiting list but I offered to pay for the watch there and then and they said that they could guarantee me the next Daytona they get allocated which is either the 3rd week of January or 3rd week of February.

Little bit unorthodox as I've already paid for the watch but I now just have to wait 1-2 months for my brand new SS Daytona

Much better than the 5 year wait I was initially told

I actually just wasted my time going back through your 12 posts that you have on the forum now. Not 1 post of anything constructive, helpful or worthwhile. Christ, you insulted JJ in your very first post!!!

You are the new member here. It is up to you to be courteous, constructive, and behave in a reasonable member. So far, you have done nothing of the sort. Look back through my 1500+ posts. I have added much to the forum and there are others that would vouch for my good name here.

Really? Geez, it's JUST a watch forum. Relax and move on to another thread if it has you that worked up- if the OP wants to post a thread (real or imaginary- I could care less) and you don't believe it, then don't give it another thought. Room layouts, etc.??? I personally would like his girlfrirend's measurements with any accompanying pics, but feel that might be going a BIT to far.

Wow, you're an ass. Why on God's green earth would he come on here and write up his tragic loss for if it were fake - some sorta strange sympathy ploy? I think not. He also doesn't have to prove anything to anybody or provide evidence of his loss (except maybe his insurance company), he's merely sharing a most unfortunate story.

Most thefts of this nature are "inside" jobs to a degree, meaning the thief got tipped off somehow; not saying its a friend or acquaintance. Since you feel either (1) that he is flat out lying to us, or (2) that it is such an easily-solved crime, I suggest you go to his home and solve it for him.
