This is my pick also. I love cold weather but not freezing cold. And there is plenty to do. Also very public transport friendly so you're not constantly driving and/or looking for a parking place.

London would be my #1 pick in the whole world and it's only a 10-hour flight from SF.

+1. Ann Arbor is the ideal place for me, particularly in the fall.

It is funny The Joker says Florence as my mother loved that city when she was alive,i think she might have picked there too. Me,on the other hand would like somewhere nice and hot and warm looking over sunsets and Pacific rollers as i love the ocean and seas.

Just curious and did this on another site and found some interesting facts.

Mine would be a beach house in Malibu California. I love the ocean and the beach and would love to wake up and walk out onto my deck, watch the sun come up and then swim in the ocean. My dream.

Post em up,,,
Well, since my wife wouldn't move anywhere out of NY once we had children, the choice has nothing to do with monetary issues.

I like moving somewhere new every year; so I guess I would love to live on a small yacht and just move to new locations all the time.

I love NY metropolitan area, so other than being able to travel all the time on a boat, I guess I would stay where I am right now and take more vacations (which I will do once I am done with my PhD........)...

The Rincon about 30 miles north of Malibu, great drive and scenery. Low is around 50 and high is around 80:

The northeast shore of Oahu in Hawaii. Beautiful coastline and even more beautiful mountains. Is Robin's Nest for sale? Overseas I'd live in London.

I live in the San Francisco bay area, it's pretty nice here, don't think I'll move in the near future.

Just outside Murray, Ky on Kentucky Lake where my weekend house on the lake is. (And if money were no object I would have a winter home down on the Gulf Coast somewhere. I spend a couple of weeks every October down there every year now).

California . . . without doubt !

And if money isn't an issue . . . right on the beach . . . ;-)

I just read in a post that traffic in Malibu is terrible . . in complete CA or in specific parts ?

Anyway . . . in december I will know it . . ;-)

Very simple for me:
June and July on Nantucket
August in Chatham
September and October in VT/NH/ME
November skiing in Colorado
December and January Palm Beach
February and March in the Bahama's
April and May in Napa, CA

Then repeat...

Interesting thread. I grew up in San Diego and always wanted to live in Del Mar (who doesn't). The weather really is perfect. But I've come to appreciate the greenery out here. And I love the Fall. Of the East Coast places I've been, I'm quite fond of Charleston, SC. Never been there during the Fall. Guess I'm not sure. So many place I still want to see.
