My thoughts are with you both.

I know a few women who were on bed rest at home for months....I also have a friend who was on bedrest at the hospital. I have a couple of friends who have delivered twins, and it seems that twins are early more often than not.

My guess is that your wife and the babies will be fine, although you may want to mentally prepare yourself for an early delivery. When I was pregnant my doctor told me that 36 weeks is considered "done," just the babies gain weight and strength in the last month. Due date is week 40. So you said you have 16 weeks...I presume that is until the due date. So, maybe if you mentally shorten everything by 4 weeks that might help reduce the stress.

If things were really terrible then I would expect the doctor to admit your wife to the hospital. That wasn't done.

Good luck!

Things will be fine Matt. Our last two were twins, a boy and a girl. We went through the same thing. They are now freshman in High School and doing fine

Matt, saw you reply on other thread, but don't want to hi-jack it.

Glad she's as good as possible under the circumstances, she's lucky to have you by her side!

I know I said this before, but I'll say it again - your guys mental state is the very, very important. Relax relax relax! Assume and expect a likely positive outcome. It will be OK!

Still praying and sending positive thoughts your way Matt.

I think with all the help you're giving her, she'll, or should I say they'll all be fine.

best wishes

Let nature take it's course and being bed ridden is not normal nor is is healthy on about 20 different levels. I don't believe what the Dr. is telling you is necessarily good for your soon to be born children. That said, my best wishes are with you and your family.

Dr's know nothing and often air to the side of legal liability more than anything. Sad but true. Tell your wife to be careful and listen to her body! We were told all sorts of Dr. Tales our children were born rock solid because my wife paid attention to what her body and rational mind were telling her. Just like 40 years ago breast feeding was horrible for new borns, right??

Well done for that pearl of wisdom.

The OP was merely looking for spiritual support from likeminded individuals and soothing words from the rest of us.

My thoughts are with you and your wife and the little ones. You have experts monitoring the situation, you are in good hands. Lets all focus on the arrival of little fingers and toes and lets see some pics in 2 months.
And no taking the credit for the cooking if you buy take out

Unless he gives her a foot massage with the time he saved by not cooking!

Matt, please keep us updated on your journey. I forgot to mention earlier that my friend who was on bed rest for weeks and weeks with her twins was also an IVF patient. She told me that thinking of her baby girls kept her going.

Prayers of course. PLUS, follow the docs orders. I know someone who just had a baby way early, barely wieghed a pound. It's up past 3 pounds now. They do great things now with babies in a little trouble. And, I hear you with the IUI's and IVF stuff too. My 6-year old came after multiple IUI's, and 2 IVF's. Follow the docs orders!!
