I don't agree.

Here we have a shady seller who only complied after pressure from the forum and on top of that wants to hold off on half of the refund until the OP "clears" his name.

An honest seller would have reversed this deal without hesitation.

What happened here was totally without honesty or integrity.

The thing that stands out most to me is that the watch was purchased from Bailey Banks and Biddle, they have been gone for a few years now. I say raw deal, you should get your money back.

I don't think we need to tar and feather the seller.

A mistake was made and the lesson reinforced.

It doesn't pay to obfuscate.

Paul even though I agree with you, I am battling the thought that this seller had incorrectly advertised an item in order to sell and to top it off he had to be badgered by the OP to do the right thing. If someone is dishonest, their selling previlledge should have been removed and warned other TRF members of this persons dishonest behaviour.

Also the fact that he did not want to explain his errors, that speaks volumes.

Agree, however he did admit his mistake in the email to the OP. It seems like hes going through a low phase knowing he goofed up and is not comfortable to face a public lynching. Im not taking his side but however pressured he was, the fact is he is trying to repair the damage. Lets just all get over it now.

Oh I'm over it but will never consider buying from him.

The fact is that the OP is not made whole. His watch is gone, and he is left with a watch he doesn't really want and only 400 dollars. I wonder if that had happened to any of us we would consider the matter closed and see no need to flog the offending party.

Just my $0.02.

Ok. I think this has run its course. Let's hope the guy makes good on what he has promised now. If not then the OP can open up a thread clearly making all facts clear if he so wishes.

Plenty of time and opportunity was given to respond in this thread.

Closed.
