I'm more a soap and water guy, however, here are a few of my fragrances...

I know it's likely considered a mediocre "designer" cologne, but I must say, the Acqua Di Gio I just bought smells amazing. Wish it lasted a bit longer, but hey, I have a 6.7 oz bottle, I can spray it on 10 times a day if I feel like it. :)
I particularly like a good shave, shower, spray of ADG, then in bed with nice clean sheets, a little breeze from the ceiling fan, makes for a refreshing, really good, clean feeling. I honestly don't wear any of these to smell good to others, if I do, that's great, but I just like the smell on me, a nice cologne makes me feel clean, fresh and invigorated. Uh oh, I think I just sounded like a Summer's Eve commercial. |

The Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella. One of the oldest pharmacies in the world. Bought my first Crema da barba , Crema pre-dopo barba and fragrance from the shop in Florence, Italy. It opened to the public in 1612. There is also a wonderful museum. The fragrances and body products are based on recipes that the Dominican friars of Florence had been developing (using herbs from the monastery gardens) since the 13th century. I've never looked back.

[QUOTE=Megalobyte;3433593]You know, I dress like crap, getting married 10 years ago was pretty much the last time I wore a suit. I just don't care much about clothes, fashion, etc. I do appreciate many things however, good food, a really well engineered car, a fine mechanical watch, of course, :) and, I like to smell good!
That immediately reminded me of the shopping scene in "Crazy, Stupid, Love" where Ryan Gosling's character takes Steve Carell's character shopping. |

A dear friend of mine is a psychatrist and only wears drakkar noir.
His theory being that girls in their 30's and early 40's (his target range?) are attracted to this scent because it stirs up pleasant memories of high school and college when this cologne was far away the most popular mens cologne. (((lol))) |

Also Hermes Rocabar when in the mood for something heavy and different. I used to get a lot of compliments on that one as well. Time to dig it out.

The only fragrance I have now is Xeryus by Givenchy. I have had this 50 ml bottle for about 20 years now! Still smells and wears the same after all these years. I guess I need to get out more!

Eau D' BO? :)
I surprised myself today. Was at the mall and went into Perfumania. They don't carry many of the colognes I like, but a few. Anyway, I tested about 20 scents. Lots of coffee beans in between. I tried a few Givenchy, some CK, Boss, Armani, Burberry, and others I don't recall. The girl brought over a sample of Lacoste Essential Sport. I saw the alligator, had a quick and unpleasant 70's flashback, and wasn't prepared to like it. Lo and behold, alligator and all, it's the one I ended up buying, it frankly smelled great. And, it's a good value too, a large 4.2 oz for $45, with a Lacoste gym bag ( I'll likely not use, but hey... :) ) Due to a promotion where you get $10 off if spending $75+, I had little choice but to pick up an Armani Code Sport, came with a matching shower gel. :) Reminds me of ADG, but with a little more bite. If you want a chuckle, read some reviews of various scents on Basenotes. My god, these guys need to get a better hobby, like watches. :) Seriously though, it's funny to read the reviews, they describe the colognes with the care and articulation you'd expect to see spent on a $10,000 bottle of Chateau Lafite. Some of the reviews are so snobby and pompous it's just plain silly. Just my opinion of course. What do I know, I shop at Perfumania now. Seriously though, if you like a sweet, fresh sport scent that's not too pricey, try the Lacoste Essentials Sport, just put your thumb over the ubiquitous alligator when you hold the bottle, you'll be fine. :) |

Bought this years ago. Monsieur Lanvin. No longer produced. Always my favourite for its depth and staying power. Woody, floral, warm spicey.

Here's a question:
I hate paying retail for anything. :) But, I'm very leery of trusting colognes from Amazon, eBay or online sources I'm not familiar with. It seems the higher end colognes aren't discounted much. Are there any reputable online sources or stores that carry higher quality colognes, with no question as to authenticity, BUT, at a good discount? 2 I think I want to try are Chanel Bleu, and L'Eau Guerlain Homme. |

Creed is the absolute best hands down. It's pricey stuff, but DAMN is it good. That and any Chanel colognes are awesome. I also have lots of D&G, but Creed(Aventus/IrishTweed) wins first with Chanel colognes in second.
I'm a bit of a freak wheat comes to cologne. Like my watches, I want the BEST. |

Neiman Marcus for sure does. I think some fragrance places, but I usually go to NM because they have a ton to smell from. It smells incredible. The company used to privately due fragrances for royalty/celebs/politicians. Very expensive, but amazing stuff. I bought my wife "Spring Flowers". That one was originally made for Audrey Hepburn.

Just read a bunch of reviews of GIT on Basenotes. One thing sticks in my mind. Many people feel Cool Water, a far cheaper 80's scent, is almost identical to GIT, but for a tenth the price. Some said the GIT was still a much higher quality scent, more natural smelling, but many suggested getting Cool Water and saving a bundle. Any thoughts on the comparison of the 2 scents? Cool Water is so cheap I might just have to get one until I can find a Creed retailer with a tester.

I never remember the names ... i have about 3 or 4 in rotation. My favorite is one from Boss, the bottle is a silver ball.
I like a few from Mont Blanc and Zegna as well.

I also rotate, perfumes/EdTs/colognes in the den are actually quite a few to mention.
The photo below is in my old apartment/location (North Europe), EdTs & perfumes are on the right hand side (after shaves are on the left hand side): Now the den is naturally larger, but to sum up current favorite scents/houses include: - Tom Ford (a number of them, his perfumers have done a terrific job though his marketing is getting too much sometimes) - Guerlain - Amouage - YSL Kouros (a true classic apparently never loved enough in the States) - Prada - Miller Harris - Diptyque The world of scents is a vast & complex one, offering infinite experiences to those who may wish to engage and discover further... A well-structured perfume is significant enough to analyse and/or explore, at the same time being the single and more than enough most elegant yet unique thing a person (especially a woman) may only [sometimes] wear...
