Yep - good point - the carriers will have stock available for 9/21 longer than Apple.

Just curious, not that it really matters and just for conversations sake.
Does yours say delivery by 9/21?
My AT&T email says "should arrive as soon as Sept 21, 2012."

I was glad to see that they can be activated online after you get them. I was thinking I would have to go to the AT&T store to have them do it. I had visions of lines out the door and around the block!

You`re assuming the online demand won`t crash the site.

I hope they learned their lessons last time - I read that they prolly won't release iOS 6 upgrade for existing iPhones until the new phone delivery activation spike abates.

Does anyone think they will eventually force us off the unlimited plan somehow? If so, I might as well convert now otherwise I am going to buy the 5 at retail price to keep my unlimited. If I do the latter and they some how force me off my unlimited a year or so down the road, I willbe mad I didn't take the subsidy.

I have a Verizon store that always has stock on release day. Hopefully I will waltz in at 10am on release day and grab one.

If "they" means AT&T, then you can keep unlimited data. From AT&T's press release:
"We offer customers the flexibility to keep the iPhone data plans they already have or choose any of our individual or new Mobile Share plans. We're proud that more customers choose AT&T for iPhone than any other U.S. carrier and look forward to making iPhone 5 the newest addition to our lineup."

I put my order in at midnight, but then when I woke up I think I should have gotten a 32gb instead of a 16gb. Then I also thought that I should probably wait for the 2nd wave of iPhones which is usually the iPhong "#"S. People say those usually have better improvements. What do you guys think?

My Verizon contract is up in 30 days, that's good news incase the iPhone 5 has an issue, by then the kinks will be worked out. And I get to keep my old plan, but the Verizon Rep said it will cost me just 3.00( three dollars) more a year due to the data usage thing, getting the 32gb black one, no price increase for me, I'm very happy. I use no more then 2g's of data a month, that's why I'm happy

Which plan are you on Mark? Are you switching from unlimited to tier data?

Was just doing a little reading this morning trying to learn a little about my incoming iphone 5. Can across this site to read a bit about it. Can across an interesting blip where someone compares the new phone to a Rolex(4th banner down). It thought it was worth posting up here. Now I know made the right choice.

Yeah, I decided to pay the lower initial price for the phone instead of the retail.
I think it's 5000 texts, 900 anytime mins with 5 people I can call without being charged for the minutes and 2g of data. And the phone is either 199.00 or 299.00, I forget, it's the 32gb phone. She said I don't use nearly enough data to change plans. I'm always hooked up to WIFi is why, so no overage on data for me. basically, I keep my old plan I've had for years. Been with them since 1993

Edit: I guess I am switching from unlimited data to just 2g, historically I don't go over 1g

I went from a Motorola Razor flip to a Droid X2. The sales clerk said wow, thats quite an upgrade. Yeah, I usually wait a while on these things.

I love my Droid and it will likely be a long time before I change to anything, Droid or otherwise. Maybe by the iphone 10.
