So I guess I am the only one who made calls by tapping the buttons on top were you rest the hand piece when their mother locked the phone to stop me running up a huge phone bill

My father would signal my uncle (50 miles away) that we were coming to visit by placing a person to person call for himself and my uncle would say, "He's not here but we expect him shortly."

Long distance charge saved. An hour or so later we'd pull up in the 1949 Plymouth.
