You have a lot of watches to buy from DavidSW to make up for the extra cost of the "AD experience".

There is a certain selfishness when buying a luxury item. The purchase of a nine thousand watch, to some, seems a little crazy, but to a collector or one that can appreciate the value and craftsmanship that goes into such a watch; it may be a sound purchase. This is not true if you are effecting your life or your families' welfare financially. I just purchased a Day-Date and felt self-conscious the first few times wearing it, especially when a clerk at a local convenient store said "nice watch, damn you must be rich!" I did not comment, but it was at that moment I realized I bought this watch for my own satisfaction, not some 18 year old clerk's opinion. Wear your watch. Wear it for your own motivations without guilt or remorse.

Edit: I didn't see that the OP sold the watch already. In the end you have to do what's best for you. I have one Rolex and I'm happy with it. Someday I would like a YG DDII or TT DJ, but that's not in the cards for a long time. Enjoy the one you already have :)

The feeling will pass my friend - the longer you keep the watch and enjoy it the better the return. I got very lucky last October and got my BLNR from him at US 7,400 BNIB....keeping in mind I buy 3-5 watches a year and refer a good deal of business to him. Wear it for a couple of weeks and you'll never look back - it's an awesome piece!

Haha funny this thread is still going. Yes I sold it and the guy got a good deal, lost a little, but life goes on. Thanks everyone for the thoughts of encouragement. For now I will enjoy my Sub and a good nights sleep

I'm happy that it worked out for you Jeff, as we say "if it isn't singing to you"... you did the right thing for you. A good nights sleep can't be bought...

Imagine it this way, if you spent 9k on a used car in 5 years that car would be worth 3k but in five years that watch might be worth even more than 9k

You shouldn't have bought a watch that looks so similar to your first watch then!
The feeling doesn't affect me, I'm going to buy an Explorer II soon. Either look at the £5530 sat in the bank or buy a watch that I love? No brainer to me. I choose not to spend my money on holidays :)

Like the OP, I just picked up my BLNR recently (yesterday!).
Got the band adjusted, and it feels like it's home on my wrist.
This is the first Rolex, and the first big boy timepiece I've purchased (I also have a blackface Tag professional quartz, which is great for what it is).
I felt a bit of remorse leading up to the purchase, but those feelings are gone.
My wife and I are financially solvent, kids raised, and I just felt now was the time get that first serious timepiece.
Feels good!

Reading the posts here makes it feel even better…!
