I say keep it if you like it. I was originally concerned about what my co-workers would think about me owning a rolex but decided I don't care. I'm in an executive position with a decent salary but work for a non-profit thus the reason for concern about perception. My husband is actually the "bread winner" and most of my peers know that but it still worried me. I've worn it for over a week now and no one has noticed it That suits me just fine. I wear it for me. :)

Not sure what you mean 'I can't afford a Daytona as a weekend watch'. It's not like an income producing property on which you're relying on cash flow to pay for financing and investor returns. You've already bought and paid for it! It's a beautiful watch, keep it and enjoy it.

By the way, women have 3x the value in a little chunk on their finger or hanging from their ears, they don't think twice about it.

Keep it, and wear it well. I'm 15 years older than you, and if I have any regrets, it's that I worried what people would think.
Life is too short to live in fear of what others think - be yourself, be kinder than you have to be, and wear the watch in good health. To those advising to lie about its origins - I don't suggest that. No reason to lie about something so beautiful and functional. Rock it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Well, my wife, who didn't even use to wear watches, definitely noticed the white dial daytona on the girl next to us on the sushi counter. She didn't know however what kind of watch it was - I foolishly told her, and consequently was $12k poorer two weeks later. Moral of the story: your watch may not be as invisible as you think. Still doesn't mean the OP needs to wear a timex to work.

"Whenever there is doubt, there is no doubt" Robert DeNiro in the movie Ronin.
Figure out why you are uneasy, is really that you care what people think or something else? If you are not going to enjoy the piece, then bring it back. Only you can decide. Personally I think it is a beautiful piece and I would wear it proudly. |

Most of the people won't know you are wearing a Rolex. It doesn't look like a regular Rolex.

One day, you will be the guy in the power seat. Would you hold it againt anyone's career advancement because their watch was too nice? Just by your concern I can see that you are sensitive to the impression you may leave. That trait will shine through. Enjoy the watch and one day you will be wearing a PP Grand Complication with no shame. You will have earned it, just like your Daytona. As the years go buy, the Daytona will grow on you. I have 60+ watches and the Daytona gets the most wear time because it is such a well made and comfortable piece.

If that's your only worry about it, keep it. I think that's too much power to give the other folks at your office. You don't have "buyer's remorse" you have impression management concerns. Keep the watch, forget the colleagues opinions that you've fabricated on their collective behalf.

No shame! No one will really notice what watch you are wearing anyway, trust me.

I've been having these thoughts since I bought my 116523. Had time to send it back when I bought it but didn't. Then another day I just wearing it and staring at it in a good way! Lol. I'm torn too. It just doesn't wow me. I have a 6 year old GMT IIc that wows me all the time. I wanted the same from the Daytona. It's crazy!
For you, a steel Daytona will sell all day any day. Keep it, enjoy it, if you change your mind it'll sell for full price anyway! Good luck!

To The OP
I used to think that some Rolex were blingly but the honest truth is that nearly every Rolex is now positively conservative when compared to the large gaudy stuff that a lot of men wear now a days. The simple truth is that Rolex just does not attract attention any more, it used to but no longer. The only exception is yellow gold versions because of the chunky bracelet. Mick |

Most people won't know what it is-especially without the cyclops. There are plenty of more "blingy" watches out there for $500.00. Go into a discount store and look at the size of some of them. They are much more noticeable than yours.

Your watch is yours to wear, do not be ashamed to have a nice watch on your wrist, most people won't notice it, those that do will appreciate that you simply have nice taste and enjoy the finer things in life. Keep the watch, wear it and enjoy it. You will always get your money back at any point down the line should you ever decide to sell it.
