Thats a hard choice. I probably couldn't say now. I would have to try them both on and decide on the spot. But i think i would lead towards the Platona. But i usually prefer a DD40 over a YG/RG Daytona.

Most people won't get the choice....my AD says he only gets one platinum DD40 in a year. Given the profit on a watch like that, you'd think Rolex would produce a few more

Both are great and can't go wrong with either. My choice would be the platinum daytona

I'd be much more likely to wear a pt DD40. The platona, while cool, is a sport watch and I think it makes more sense in steel.

Originally I said daytona for sport preference but to be honest that DD40 is a killer piece having seen them both. I could truly be happy with either but I think I would take a DD40 if they were both in front of me.

I wear a Day-Date 40, and it is rather beautiful. But mine's not platinum, nor ever will be. It's just such a lot of money. Too rich for my blood.

Not that I have money for either, but DD40 is much more aesthetically pleasing watch. Not sure who at Rolex decided that brown goes well with light blue.

In person (in my eyes anyways) it goes so well together. I cannot explain it but it just works.

Both sexy beasts. I'd go Daytona for pure love for this reference. Which one sings to you more?

Of course it does Steve! Earth tones always go well together.

Like a crisp blue shirt and brown belt + shoes.

I actually like the chocolate brown with ice light blue, it's distinctive. But anyway the ice blue (or close) is what lets peeps know it is Pt.

I don't have a Platinum Daytona but when I wear my platinum 40mm Day Date or my platinum 118206 I feel powerful, so heavy. Arguably, the ne plus ultra of modern Rolexes.

I'm not a big DD fan but in this case I prefer the DD. For me the blue brown color scheme is not my favorite.

I added the daytona first, but that doesn't mean a PT DD40 isn't a possibility down the road. I really like the quadrant dial on the 40.

I agree. You really have to see the platona in person to appreciate its beauty. Pictures don't really do it justice. I felt the same way when I saw the brown but it grows on you lol

But I can also see how it might be less appealing for those with different taste
