Huge Congrats Otto!

I remember you having the YG Champagne DDII and swapping dials for the White, or vice versa.

Was the Champagne dial on the DD40 in consideration for you this time as well?

I myself am between the Silver and Champagne for a DD40.

It was in consideration, but I was pretty set on the silver dial from the various photos posted; and when I finally saw it in the YG/silver configuration, that pushed me over the edge to move from the II to the 40. On the DD II, you are correct. I went from white dial to champagne to white to champagne. Interestingly, when I sold it, the buyer didn't want the white dial, so I still have it for no use.

I just like the various shades of silver, gold, and champagne you get with the silver dial in different lighting.

Basically share your affection for the silver dial too.

Def the favorite on TRF in terms of YG DD40s.

Just have the champagne dial thats in ALL Rolex marketing for the DD40 in my mind as well.

Tough call for me.

Love your new baby! Enjoy it Otto.

The champagne dial is beautiful. Had I not stumbled across the silver dial the day I did, I likely would have the champagne now. Knowing myself, I will likely change to the champagne dial in a few years, then back again. Rolex Japan facilitates such a deal by allowing you to keep the original dial.

Congrats. I imagine that there must be a significant difference in how a DDII and a DD40 wear since it seems that a lot of people make the switch. I know that Rolex went from 41mm to 40mm and changed the fluting of the bezel. I had a 118238 and the 36mm was way too small, once I got used to the 40mm size.

The DD 40 wears significantly smaller than the DD II. The overall look is more like the 36 but the size is still substantially bigger. It's just right for me.
