Lol you put your watch on a table hammered and some broad took it. Only way the watch comes off my wrist is if my life is threatened.

Smooth.

I think for OP, after repeated inquiries, you should've just let the crowd know what really happened of the theft. Or the easiest advice, was to never take it off your wrist, like some of the other posters have said. It would've saved a lot of keyboard strokes from many other people.

Sorry for your loss, but at least you are compensated. There's your silver lining, and hope anyone will not commit to these mistakes again. Lesson learned.

OP, don't be offended by the responses here. You started a thread advising us not to travel with our watches without any argument as to why we shouldn't. Sure theft happens but with no greater frequency abroad than at home. And in the end, if you had used the room safe or worn it then we wouldn't be discussing this. I'm happy for you that you had it insured and were made whole. Going forward, don't be wary of traveling with a fine timepiece. Just take precautions not to tempt and provide opportunity to those who want one for free to get one for free. As for the boxes and what not, I would throw them away myself but there's probably some people out there that would part with some of their money for such things.

He stated it was a female "hustler." I'm betting some hot chick asked him to see his watch while he was drinking in his cabana. Lots going on I'm sure; he got distracted, turned around and she was gone.

I'm sure he was livid and upset. I know I would be.

Lesson learned.

You're right, in Miami most are walking around with $30-$50k+ watches on their wrist.

Common sense prevails...try it.

Sorry for your loss. A friend of mine in the watch business told me a story about hot women in Miami that are not prostitutes who pray on men with nice watches. They are crooks using their looks to get closer to their targets.

A guy I worked with had his Sub LV stolen off his wrist by a talented young lass while he was inebriated at his brother's bachelor party. Was in Greenwich, CT. Stuff happens. Anywhere and everywhere. A real pity that the 1% of thieving dancers are ruining it for the other honest 99% trying to pay their way through medical school.

Thankfully the watch was insured, unfortunately that watch model now triggers an uncomfortable memory and reminder so currently I do not own a Rolex, however after nearly 1 year from that incident I have been looking at them again and considering either a replacement of my GMT II or a Daytona SS.
I'm sorry for what happened but I'm confused... You said this happened nearly a year ago and insurance covered the loss but just now you're thinking of getting a new watch because the thought of a rolex brought up bad memories for the last year?

I would keep the papers and box. I have a friend that had a watch stolen and years later, it went for service and it was flagged. He ended up getting the watch back.

Guys don't you see that nothing about the OP makes any sense? I just checked and last time he logged on was a couple hours ago. He's just sitting there reading our replies and probably laughing... He hasn't checked in with us so why keep this thread going? Mods, please close this useless thread. OP isn't going to be checking in anymore so why bother to keep it up?

Thankfully I was insured & after 45days of back and forth with the insurance company I was covered. I like to know the following if anyone can relate to this thread:

1. What did you do with your Rolex box/papers/warranty card etc. after the watch went missing/stolen

2. Any point in holding onto this stuff (every time I see my GMT box, I am now reminded of my experience of having the watch stolen). I am hopeful it may get picked up during service which at that time I can turn the watch/papers/box over to my insurance company.

Love to hear some feedback, Sucks to have your watch stolen, thank god it was insured

Rags2Rolex

The real lesson here isn't about the dangers of taking expensive watches along on travels, but instead about dangers of associating with hustlers.
