Looks like you all scared him away...another one and done perhaps..
OP did get a raw deal on it - but if he's happy than that's great. Not everyone goes into buying a Rolex with reselling in mind.

This is unbelievable.....I'm all for a spirited discussion, but geez! People are acting like he violated some rule of Rolex ownership.. This forum is filled with posts applauding one and other for their diamond encrusted platinum dipped watches, and questions about wearing watches in the shower, but we ridicule someone who recognizes the fact that he really wants a Sub.....he won't use the bracelet....he can buy it cheaper without the bracelet that he won't wear. Makes perfect sense... Everyone jumps down his throat saying he didn't get a good deal...NEWSFLASH...any of you who purchased a brand new watch from an AD did not get a good deal! Let's be honest...I can buy a slightly used watch for less than you paid and get the same quality product. I'm just happy that the OP probably will wear his watch...maybe even in the water! At least he's not sharing photos of it in the green box with stickers and treating it like some sort of faberge' egg!! |

Congrats on your new Sub! Wear it the way you like it. Mr Bond wore his with a NATO strap. That said, if you ever plan to sell or trade, the Rolex bracket is highly desired and integral to the package. It probably is about $2k (?) for the braclet. If it's your forever watch then no worries. Cheers!

OP did not get a discount at all. A new bracelet from an AD will cost him $2500. Sounds like he didn't do his homework before buying.

Whether or not it's a good deal, will become apparent to you in time. If you keep the watch for a lifetime and your happy it was a good deal! Not all watch enthusiasts are the same value to us can be esoteric so enjoy your watch understanding that many feel the bracelet is important thus affecting your potential resale. Congrats on your purchase by the way.

I'm not sure you got much of a deal, but congrats on the watch. I rarely wear my bracelet these days.
It seems many in this thread seem to forget that it hasn't been all THAT long since a rubber tropic strap was an option at the AD in lieu of a bracelet, for those who either wanted to save money and/or didn't like wearing the metal bracelet. |

Is there a return window the AD has in affect as a store policy? Find out perhaps ananomously and if possible return it and purchase it complete with bracelet.

Can someone show me how to use the search function? I'm trying to find out if NATO strap threads are allowed on this forum.

Sometimes I just come away from threads like this shaking my head........and NOT due to the OPs first post. Who cares if he didn't get what many would consider a "good deal"?? He got the deal he wanted, and he may never have plans that require taking a look at resale value.
I would rather smash my Rolex with a hammer than to listen to some back-seat shopper tell me the type of deal I got. Shame on you guys.

To be fair, a major thrust of the OP's post was that he got a discount, which opens up a "deal" discussion. What I'm more surprised by is people questioning his lack of interest in a bracelet. Plenty of Rolex wearers don't use bracelets, and, as I mentioned above, skipping the bracelet used to be an official option. |

Positivley shocking he wouldn't come back! I'm sure it means he was just a polite troll pretending to be excited about his new watch and is in no way a reflection of the members here.

He hasn't been "logged-in" to read any of the replies. To be fair, he could have easily read everything.

To to original poster:
I see now after reading all the reply's I see now that what you did was spot on for your situation. You don't wear bracelets and you got a nice watch for a discounted price. You can always buy one for the same price that you saved. I believe most people on here think that every watch purchased is to be worn for 2 years and sold and repurchase another Rolex. I hope you enjoy your Rolex on whatever strap you desire. Please accept my sincere apologies for assuming this was not a real post.
