They didn't renege on the PP yet...which is what I was referring to, though we don't yet know if there is any deposit on any of it yet.

But would agree if there was a deposit on the 116500, I'd be demanding that back now.

The 5146 is a nice Annual Calendar, but pricing is very soft on that piece. You should aim for 20% off the retail price at an AD, although you may or may not get that much. You can get the 5146 for a lot less pre-owned. They are available at most Patek ADs just by calling them and unless this AD is offering a huge discount, I would definitely shop around.
Agree here. I'd expect those Rolex discounts were offered because they had multiples in stock and wanted one out ASAP, or something similar. There is usually something behind "unusual flexibility" which I think 15% on a BLNR and 20% on a LV-C are.

And agree again on the PP - that model is quite soft and a good discount can be had. I would find it hard to buy a 5146 from an AD unless they are willing to go deep.

I understood your point, but if the AD didn't honor his commitment on the Daytona (as documented in email), then I'd feel morally justified cancelling my Patek order and demanding any deposit be returned. Legality aside, surely the AD should be held to at least the same ethical standard as the buyer. Play by the rules, or don't play at all.

The PP I have in order is 5146, although I am "on the list" for 5711/5712 (that is probably not real anyways in retrospect)

I'm going to leverage the PP to force their hand on the Daytona. Pretty certain it won't work. Hard to cut them off entirely when they have given me a BLNR 15% off, Hulk 20% off, etc., but I may just have to move on.

Yeah, those are nice discounts in those SS models from AD NIB

There is really no such thing as a wait list in AD. My friend's friend is the owner of AD in the area, and I asked if he could get me the daytona C. He said they actually have a good amount of them, but reserved for their VIPs. He said he can give it to me for 18k...which I'm pretty sure they are not suppose to do that as AD, but whatever. They can sell to whoever they want.

100% correct (technically it's "whomever", but let's not be grammar police) but that point is hardly debatable. What's at issue is the acceptability of an AD making false promises to an established client. How can anyone defend that, regardless how many times we hear the same story?

A client commits to terms of purchase from his established AD, that commitment should be honored. An AD commits to terms of sale to an established client, that commitment should be honored. It's not complicated.

I understand all the arguments about business is business, etc. I know there were email communications confirming you were next. Is that an enforceable contract? Was any money put down on the Daytona?
All of that is just navel gazing. The real issue is that you have been a regular and loyal customer of his for a number of years. You took him at his word, and he didn't live up to his word. Therefore, he is no longer deserving of your business.

Yes you got screwed. That's a bunch of BS and either you remind him of your past loyalty or time to move on to another AD with your business and the friends you have referred. Just my 2 cents on this.

I'm a business owner, and I would never knowingly break my word to a customer. Honestly, I would not only pull my PP order, but I would also mention the name of the AD in threads like this.

That sucks, I would cancel the Patek order and take your business elsewhere

That's all you really need to know right there. Total BS. If they don't intend on honoring a "list" then they shouldn't have one in the first place.

If it was me... they'd have lost a good customer.

I feel your frustration. Many of the Rolex ADs I reached out to sounded quite arrogant and pompous when I asked to be put on the list. One went so far as to say it's better you shop local. Really? You don't think I thought of that already? Instead of inquiring about the other watches on my purchase list this year or how we can establish a new relationship together, many ADs are riding the strong demand at the moment and forgetting who their client base is. I would drop the dealer in question and try your luck elsewhere. I When things are slow at the AD in question, and no business is immune to the cyclical nature of demand, perhaps they will reflect on how short sighted they were with you. And by then, I'm sure you'll have found a new AD. Good luck with the PP and your Daytona purchase. I'm sure you'll have one sooner than you think.

Here's an idea.
1) cancel PP order - he doesn't deserve it
2) pay Archie Luxury $20 to make a video naming and shaming the AD about the shady way he treats customers, so that others spend their money at othee dealerships.
