My grandma, we called her Moke, was the mom of my mom. She was the sweetest, gentlest, most tolerant, and strongest person I have ever known. She had experienced more horror, and grief than any person ever should in their lifetime. Throughout her life she was the glue to keep the family united, despite the fact we scattered all over the globe (I have uncles in China and South Africa, and emigrated to the USA myself, while the rest of the family is in Belgium). We would all fly in for her reunions when she turned 85 and 90 years old. Moke had 8 children, numerous grandchildren and great grandkids. Unfortunately she had to see several pass away before her.
She peacefully died in her own home on January 4, 2015. 9 days before her 95th birthday. She was born on January 13, 1920.

Sounds like a great lady. My dad hit 89 last month and we are really looking forward to his 90th. It's the only thing that brings the aunts, uncles and cousins back together every 5 years.

Wow! This is great news. Your grandmother sounded amazing. Sounds a lot like my father who i used his birthday as reference and who is fighting for his life with pancreatic cancer which unfortunately is inoperable. I will give it to him so he can pour the family wine as he cannot drink anymore....very very tough for an Italian!! Anyway, this is exciting and want to personally thank Vanessa for this wonderful gift set. I will post pictures of it once I receive it....thanks again and I want to add I have never been involved with an online community like TRF, it seems there are weekly give away a here, the generosity is outstanding.
