I hardly think you buy a Rolex because it will hold it's value better than a $600 watch... the sales tax on your watch is more than $600....

There are other watches out there of BETTER quality than Rolex that are less money... you buy a Rolex for status... I have nothing wrong with, just please don't bull#hit me... it's to show off.

Hi Jim,
I'm an opera singer, female, and saved until I could afford my Rolex. I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth, both my parents wrote childrens books and achieved artistic as well as monetary success from hard work. I learned that at an early age, hard works gets you what you want. I was accepted to one of the best conservatories in the wold, had scholarships and still worked between 23-30 hours the entire time, even during my Masters. I have never taken, let alone sold drugs, and find your post rather presumptuous. I bought my Rolex from my hard work, like most people here. I don't need to pose because I'm the real deal, that's what wearing a Rolex is about. Being the real thing, and being comfortable with just that.

People here have been very tolerant and polite to you would it be too much to ask if you did the same?

Dude, I thought you were just messing, around joking (which we appreciate and like) until this post.
The door is behind you!
I don't have to explain anything about my watch!

The TRF way!
I have been "Joking" around. Then two posts attacked me so I posted back.

"I suspect you could be a reverse snob! You criticise us for buying a quality premium product, yet have the front to drop a name or two with regard to your own purchases! Nevertheless welcome to the forum........i think! "

I NEVER NEVER NEVER criticised any of you. I ALWAYS buy quality. I wanted to hear who are the average Rolex owners because I always pictured them as rich. I was joking but comments attacked so they came back as such.

Jimbo, let me get this straight. You come on here with a post that inquires whether we are drug dealers, inheritance brats, or posers. You imply that we are not feeding our children and compromising their future for our material greed and a need to show off and when a couple of people out of all the ones who have posted take offense you are surprised?

Hi Jim,
I'm sorry if you felt attacked, but I personally wasn't able to tell that your first post was a joke. I think sometimes it's hard with electronic communication, you can't see the persons face or their voice, just have the words and yours seemed a bit aggressive to me. I am sorry if I misunderstood them.
I love this forum, the people on it and the various topics of "conversation" if you will.
Maybe we should all start over, you could open a new thread, introduce yourself, and ask why we all love our watches, how can we justify the expense and perhaps tell us about that Daytona that you want so badly? We could all have a new start, what do you think?

Well being new to the forum I suppose not every understands your sense of humour, but you do seem a bit over sensitive, chill out and try and make some friends here

Different priorities for different people.
Some may not want the boat, bike larger house, exotic trips, disposable purchases.
Watches last a lot longer than some of these purchases with less ongoing maintenance.
If you have a small or no mortgage, then the house isn't sucking up your cash flow, so some nice toys might be in order.
I've always been fascinated with watches, at a point in my life where I can buy them & not take $$ from daily expenses & the "big picture".

Said perfectly.

I do love the watches. Never thought I could afford them. Saw the pictures of regular looking people like me and thought maybe these watches are not unattainable items exclusive to the rich.

My 1st post was trying (without success) at sarcasm.

I'm hoping to now purchase one for myself for my birthday in January. I will be reading posts until then to make sure I get a good deal and find the watch best suited to me.

Great forum.

Hi Jim,

Great to meet you, I bought my first Rolex for my birthday this past August, (one of our fantastic members made that possible, Tempoking, he's the best!) I had been dying for it for almost 20 years, seriously! The time was finally right and I had a BIG birthday and my beautiful watch helped ease the pain a bit. :-)
I bought myself a beautiful SS midsize black diamond dial DJ with jubilee band. It is classic, elegant, sleek and I feel wonderful wearing it, a prize that I earned and paid for myself, great feeling.
Welcome to the forum, glad you wrote back. :-)

I earn a very modest wage, live in a small flat (apartment) and somehow now, find myself owning my Fifth Rolex (the previous four sold).

Guess I just love 'em too much, and I'm prepared to sacrifice other things in Life.

Different strokes and all that.

Damn you Jim, I spit my soda all over my keyboard.

Jimmy, I understand that you had no bad intentions with your post, welcome aboard. Seriously though, I don't' wear a Rolex to flash it or show it off. Nobody even knows that I wear one to be honest, except my wife, and that's the way I like it. I actually get embarrassed if someone notices my watch so please don't think that all of us are out for attention or "show offs", that makes me get defensive. I am a blue collar guy who wears a Timex Ironman at work and a Rolex when I go home. I work hard and earn a good living, but my family always comes first. Good luck with your purchase, come back and post some pics when you get it.
