I have had zero stretch in several years of wear and zero problems with clasp, and I wear mine to the gym and everywhere. So I take direct experience over hearsay as a standard of evidence. No offense meant or taken. We agree to disagree.

I should say that you should only own a pt daytona if you love them and can afford them. I meet both criteria.

Not trying to be argumentative, but only to make the point that Rolex makes things durable and then doesn't stand behind their bracelets, etc. Things are replaced rather than repaired. For platinum and gold, this could be expensive and not worth it in the event of more serious damage. Other brands at the price point for a pt Rolex may not make things as durable but they may stand by their products with more complete ability to repair parts. I bought a yg Breguet used and had it basically repaired to like new, including the bracelet. Couldn't do that with a Rolex! At least, not without a third party.

It's hard to explain its not just a watch .
It's funny but even though I went to a pretty nice primary school, a lot of the kids lived in a nearby council estate and I wished I lived over there so I could play football with them more often. Anyway go for the Platona, you've worked to get to a position where you can buy one and it's obviously the ultimate watch for you. Look forward to the incoming, Sheffield lad.

PS Do you know fellow brother Gino Decampo?

No more song-and-dance routine, then, just get it.

Oh, and Sheffield is in the south, btw.

If you look at vintage Rolex, few are still on the original bracelets.

That's a hard call there , the obvious would say they used lesser quality materials than today or they was not able to produce the quality solid bracelets of today back then .

My thinking is like this how many of us still own just 1 of our milk teeth ? Very very few of us rather like original bracelets on vintage Rolex watches then ? Things get lost over decades its sad but true .

Only kidding about the milk teeth I've still got all mine in a pendant around my neck

Platona is a gorgeous watch, and one I miss often. It's truly incredible looking and has a lot of character depending on lighting. It's very heavy though, which I sort of liked....

I've seen John's Daytona in person and even as a daily wearer that he uses for everything (trust me he does not baby the watch) it still looks stunning and I know the light cosmetic stuff will go away anytime with a light polish. Dr Tom is another example of just tooling the watch as intended for years. I honestly don't see durability/stretch issues anytime soon with the newer bracelet designs.
