Day Date 36mm Too Small

I'm finding 36mm to be too small for a watch these days.

I used to love my gold DD 36mm however it just seems too small compared to other watches.

With the trend towards watches 40mm or greater I'm wondering if others are finding 36mm to be too small for a gents watch.

I love trying on watches and my wrist isn't that big, but when I try on a watch less than 40mm it seems better suited for my wife.
