Explorer II 216570 by miles over anything else. Slight edge to the white dial. No, make that black. No, wait. White.

I would say if you could only own one rolex it should be a Submariner. It's my favorite.

Forever I would have said DJ 2 tone with champagne dial but my mind has been changed recently, I bought a Hulk and it is without doubt one of the prettiest watches I have ever seen.

The Perfect Datejust (IMHO)
The Datejust II with the black stick dial and white gold fluted bezel (116334)!! I absolutely love this watch!! I actually bought mine nearly two years ago from my local Authorized Rolex Dealer who special ordered it in for me. For many years I have had the aspiration and desire to own a Rolex and could never really afford one until when I finally got the chance to be able to order and purchase this one. I totally love the look of this Datejust, especially the size!! I hate to see that Rolex as of this year has totally discontinued the Datejust II line in favor of the now updated version, the Datejust 41. Unlike many Rolex connoisseurs I completely favor the look of the Datejust II over the Datejust 41. I've even held these two watches together side by side to compare and I just like the bigger more masculine look of the II. I like the wider look of the fluted bezel which I think shows out more. Also I like the thicker more pronounced look of the stick indices on this model over the smaller more petite ones on the 41. The Datejust 41 looks ok but I very much favor the more heft look of the Datejust II (IMHO). Also I've always loved the stainless/white gold look alongside a black dial. This thing just speaks loudly with prestige and shows out nicely!! Also I guess I would consider myself more catered to an old fashion way of thinking at now 52 years old than a lot of 52 year olds today because I favor and always have favored a mechanical (self-winding) movement over a quartz. I know a quartz is always more accurate but I have always been completely fascinated by that amazing little miniature engine that runs these kinds of watches and all that takes place in the operation and function of them. |

All the ones I've owned have been my favorites while they were in the stable - somewhere near 20 different model configurations. Serial collecting leads to "love the one you're with" syndrome
Right now a vintage YG DD and a Pt. Daytona are my favorites.
