Honestly, nothing is worth pursuing so I say live with it because it also adds character to the watch!

Something similar happened to my first ND sub. My 4 year old son hit the watch with a spoon as I was wearing it. Put a nice gash on the 9 o'clock side. It drove me crazy because it was my first nice watch. I sold it and got another Rolex. To this day, I regret getting rid of that watch and wish I had it on my wrist to tell a story.

Just kidding. I’m pretty anal about that sort of thing, which is why I had the bezel replaced on my Daytona. I could see that though. If I couldn’t see the ding on the wrist, I’d be inclined to leave it. However, if it could be laser welded ‘for a few hundred bucks’, I’d get it done. No question.

Agreed. Rolex has become popular with people who simply want to "look" like adventurers, rather than act like them.

I say leave the dent. The watch looks better with it.

When the dent just happened, it looks massive. Absolutely horrible. You are livid at yourself for being so careless. Might even feel a bit sick to your stomach. Almost want to get rid of the watch for a new one; yes, it’s that bad.

But then a few days go by. Followed by a couple of weeks. Sure, the dent is still there, but it’s not as obvious. Eventually, months will pass and at times you will look at your watch and not even notice it. Point being, the dent is part of your watch now and you are use to it as if it blends in with the steel from day one.

Accidents like this need to be put in perspective. This is a F’d up world we live in. Craziness all around. So, on any given day, if the worst thing that happens to you is a dent or scratch on your watch: consider yourself lucky.

Fix it, live with it, flip it. Those are the options. Why not explore them. If a repair is a couple of hundred dollars see how it turns out. Contact some TS and see with the damage what the flip price is. If it is good, flip it and add some cash and move on. If the watch is insured look at your policy and if damage is covered I would get an estimate from RSC to re-case. A $500 deductible for a new case might work. Live with it is easier said than done for me but it could work. In the end I would make it right so I could live with it. Good luck.

I'd want to repair that. Although it's not visibly noticeable while wearing, I'd know it's there and I'm afraid it would bother me to no end.

I'd start by sending some high res pictures to Rik or ABC to see if they can sort you out and get costs etc.

At lesst then you can make an informed decision

Classic watch repair Michael young can restore it,my sub also is got damaged on the lug, it's always hurting, as I write I have sent my watch to Rolex Geneva..as advised my Rolex agent. I sent it to Rolex as opposed to classic repairs as my watch was hardly used.. Just a year old, used only 5 to 6 times I guess. I see many in Rolex forums refer to the damage as dent, in some ways it is, however I see this more as metal loss and not a dent where the metal has gone in...

Dude send it to Rolex and pay for the repair. Easy. They’ll give it a new case.

I don't understand the opposition to having a dent or damaged case repaired. That said, yeah scratches I can live with... but if I had a watch with some noticeable damage, I'd look to repair. I get that it's a watch a piece of jewelry or whatever... but to those that say to live with it, do you not repair your cars if they were to suffer damage? At least a watch in most cases hold/retain their value unlike a car.

A Dent in my Batman 😞

Exactly, one thing is a little scratch.. this deformed the case.. not gonna sound like if it was not noticeable.

In the end we wear watching to see them ourselves. Not what others think.

Id take it for repair.

I think I'd be less concerned about the case damage than the potential damage to the internals. An impact of sufficient G's to deform 904L like that has got to be up into the low hundreds. Not good for the delicate bits inside.

This. A decent insurance policy should cover accidental damage.

When my new car gets its first door ding I am always pissed for a day or two, then I am relieved because I can stop worrying about the first door ding.
