I think most cameras on phones are able to take good images; the only real differentiation is available light... These taken with iPhone 6 :-)

Pretty impressive, nice shots. Sticking with my 7 for now, like the size.

This is what I can get with Starbucks indoor lighting. I'm pretty sure it's better than my 7+ could do.

Wow thanks for the heads up, I really wasn’t aware there was such a thing as a “cure” time on a panel.

Mine is on order and I had seen the stuff about the screen burn. I know what to do now. Ta

I asked a professional sports photographer what he recommended as a good camera for snaps without having the bulk of an SLR camera. He told me to use the same one he uses....his phone !!

From these photos his advice holds true, camera manufacturers must be feeling the pinch these days.

Wow, these came from the X? Truly impressive. But dk how I feel about the entire phone being made out of glass, too risky for me but may end up budging after all.

You could budget in $200 for AppleCare. (I'd link the MacRumors article that explains the trade-offs, but I don't have enough forum history to post a link.)

Anytime.

OLED is an emissive technology, just like Plasma. Same way that benefits black levels, it's not fitting for bright graphics over very long times with no movement. Some people call it burn in, but it's really more to do with aging the pixels at different rates, especially when new. A 4k OLED television, for example has over 9 million individual pixels. Each pixel can turn independently on and off. This allows, infinite contrast ratios technically, and perfect black levels that are immeasurable light output.

Pretty cool technology. Great on a phone, even better for televisions and viewing cinema, sports, as well as television/monitor for console or computer linked gaming. Incredibly, space saving as well and the only television I've purchased since the days of the Pioneer Kuro and Panasonic ZT60.

Anyway, so long as you take care of your panels, especially when new, you'll have no problems with emissive displays.

I upgraded from a 6 plus to the 8 plus and given the same lighting conditions there is still a huge perceptible improvement to the image quality I feel. These are downsized images for posting here. Overall I am very happy with the new phone in terms of speed and camera quality. Also the photos are stock with no editing done at all.

DxOmark should have an X review up soon.

Apple definitely led for years with their phone cameras, but all flagships have been great or better the last few years.

Damn.

Seems amazing from what I've seen so far. That optical zoom is the game changer.

The next few years are going to be very interesting.

Thanks! I still have every iphone since the very first back in 07. If I had the time and patience I’d fire them all up and do a evolution timeline of image quality. Not gonna happen lol
