I work with a guy who has a 90s Pepsi GMT. Other than that, I’ve never seen another Rolex worn in public other than mine, and I keep my eyes peeled.
Just keep in mind, you see Subs on so many wrists in NYC, because when you adjust for income levels, a Sub costs half as much in NYC as it does in Kansas City. |

I'm in Southern California and I honestly don't see that many Subs. A few middle aged skilled craftsman who have done work for me have older Subs and I have seen a few new shiny ones on younger guys, but that's about it. I do see a fair amount of two tone Datejusts on older people, a few GMTs on hipsters, and gold Royal Oaks and Daytonas have gained traction with new money in the last decade, but almost everyone here either doesn't wear a watch, wears a piece of junk, or wears an Apple Watch. Occasionally in the wild I will see a black Sub date or a a two-tone blue or black or a solid gold blue or black, but I've never seen a no date or a Hulk. I also wonder how many are actually real, as it seems a lot look fake to me from a short distance.

When I was in the military, I will often see a few soldiers wearing a Rolex Sub especially the Special Ops guys (Green Berets), mostly divers. But outside of the military, not too much. I wore my Rolex Sub 16800 since 1987 and still going strong. Wore it in Iraq and other hot spots. Reliable and very tough tool watch.

I saw a TT ladies' DJ and a black dial with diamonds DJ today, but no Sub.
I was also out and about in the public more today than I usually am. |

I could count on one hand the times I have seen a sub or sub date in tristate area here in past 30 years. Two two tone, blue and black dialed. Bagelry owner and an attorney.

I’m strictly referring to the black submariner when I say it’s extrmely common.
Not talking about hulks or any other color, I dont see the coloured subs that often but blacks I see daily. And I’m not saying you’re a douchebag if you wear a blck sub, what I was saying is that lots of people who do happen to be douchebags wear black subs.. just like poster just above me said, the typical millennial trust fund kid is always wearing one. IMO the black submariner has become rolex’s “iphone” watch. One guy whom I seen wearing one, I remarked it was a cool watch and asked him what the numbers on the dial meant. He told me it was a “skydivers watch and the numbers were there to measure the direction of the wind”.. wtf? |

“Subs Are Everywhere” ............. Really ?
Where I live I almost never see nice watches. At my office of about a thousand people, most people wear no watch. Next most popular is probably the Apple Watch. Next I see various styles of quartz watches. I’ve only seen 5 people with watches a WIS would notice. A Swiss Army, a quartz Seamaster, a Mido & Hamilton Khaki (which I sold him), a Mont Blanc, and a GMT Master II Pepsi.
I’ve only ever seen one other Sub in my life, which was about a year ago at an indoor shooting range. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It all depends on what location you are I guess.
The member from Bangkok says he sees them everywhere and not in Schotland, I guess he's at fancy places in Bangkok like drinking at expensive rooftops, dining in proper restaurants or shopping in Siam Paragon or Embassy etc. Ofcourse I see them everywhere then, but eating at a random night market you wont see any. If he would do that in Schotland I'd bet he'd see some subs. Same goes for me here in Holland, at my hometown you wont see one at all. But at my work in Amsterdam, lots of people have one. It's probably not really that you see a lot, but compared to any othere luxury watch you see more black subs. A friend of mine working in bars in Amsterdam says he sees them A LOT and he always wanted one, he doesnt now.. (Not that he can buy one seeing the stock :X) The golden rule is to go to any place in the world were they serve 20 dollar cocktails, and youll see a douchebag wearing one. And maybe spot me ;) |

Here in Massachusetts I see mostly Tag Heuer quartz watches or Apple watches. When I am at my condo in the Palm Beach area of Florida I see Datejusts, DayDates, and a couple of TT blue subs but that’s it. I’ve never seen an all black sub or LV in my years down there.

I see subs in high end malls, luxury cars, fine dining restaurants and airline lounges in Asia with caveat on Hong Kong where it is almost everywhere.
Most memorable one I've seen was on a weather beaten hardy Thai fisherman who found a 16800 and its been on him ever since with no problems all these years... |

I see them more in Taiwan than in US. Definitely not everywhere though.... It's like seeing a Porsche 911 on the street. You see them, you are like "nice", but not "wow, nice". That goes with all Rolex watches, not just the Sub.

I spent 6 weeks in south Florida Jan-Feb and would see some every day.
I work from home so I'm not out that often, but when I am out it'll happen every now and then

How many of these are 6 digit Subs?
I'd take a guess that most are 5 digit. And that's only because they had such a long production run. With all the needless focus on "wrist presence", and "exclusivity of ownership" do we have any wonder why Rolex is limiting supplies and making watches more "blingy"???!!!! Think about the next time we complain Anyway, the Subs are "everywhere" argument is a stretch from my perspective |

I live in Houston and work in oil and gas. It is not uncommon to see more than one Sub or GMT in a meeting. I once counted three Subs just on people who happened to walk into my office one day. Mostly 5 digits black or bluesy two tone.

Counted 6 subs and 3 datejusts walking around the Irvine Spectrum when I was there on Sunday. When I fly out of SNA I play a game of counting the watch brands that pass as people board. Rolex is 10:1 any other brand and its usually Subs, then DJs along with GMTs. Spent a day at the Toshiba Classic and lost count. The demographic was a little older so there were more DJs and DDs but still plenty of Subs, GMTs and Daytonas. Panerai actually seemed pretty popular too.
When your brand is that strong and you sell over 1 mil watches a year there are going to be areas of high concentration. Rolex is a machine! |

I’d guesstimate that about 3/4s of the Rolex watches that I see these days are Subs.

I see them every so often. Obviously everywhere is an exaggeration, but on the other hand they are definitely the single watch model I see the most.
