Does anyone have any "after" pictures of a DIY buffing using a Scotchbrite? Like Bladeshot and TickTockChuck, I wonder how readily one can match the original brushing pattern, or avoid over-polishing and rounding out the edges.

A green Scotchbrite pad doesn't match the factory brushing grain or pattern. Compare both in good lighting and they're nothing alike. Compare them under a loupe and you'll cringe.

I've yet to see a proper straight grain in anyone's photos using a green pad. They're always crooked no matter how good of a job the person thinks they did.

I'll take natural scratches over a poorly executed brush job any day.

Just say 'no' to brushing at home.

I'm more worried about the fact that you wear cufflinks to a Pub.

I feel your pain. I dinged the lug of my Black Bay after about a week of having it and this week took a chunk out of one of the alloys on my month old car.. Stuff like that drives me nuts.

I put a video on the first 2 pages of someone doing it to rolex. There’s a lot of YouTube videos. As well.

The grain is different depending on what coarseness scotchbrite pad or sandpaper you use.

Relax - it's a watch. It's meant to be worn, and signs of wear are inevitable. The only alternative is to wrap it carefully in cotton wool and never wear it, which totally defeats the purpose of owning a watch. Over time that scratch will fade and be joined by a myriad of others. Wear them with pride!

Exactly. Scratching on the bottom of the clasp is inevitable. I wouldn't even bother with that scratch because in another year or two you won't notice it due to all the other scratches around it. Now a scratch on the case is another story since it stares you in the face every day. Those are painful.

This.

Do not attack it with a scotchbrite pad. It is far from the same as the factory finish.

The first cut is the one that drives you nuts the most. All subsequent ones will make you forget about the first. I suggest just wear and enjoy. (And I’m sort of OCD) lol

There is a quite simple way to leave it unscratched, don't wear it.

The only way not to have scratches is to keep your watch in its box and never let it see the light .
If you wear it, you will scratch it , no mater how careful you are.
The first scratch is the worst, then you’ll get use to it, unless you have a bigger deeper one, after that you’ll be immuned.
Just wear it and enjoy it.
