I was looking back at this thread and realized I never answered your question.

I did. I got a Wolf 6 watches stackable tray and as someone here suggested I tied the pillows to make them smaller. I will post a picture tomorrow to illustrate what I am saying.

Once again, thank you to everyone that replied on this thread and for the very nice congratulatory words. If it wasn't for you guys I don't think I would have had the courage to pull the trigger.

Now my next hunt is for a tool that would help me do microadjustment on the clasp. I am looking at a Bergeon 7825, but the price is holding me back.

Definitely worth it for the Bergeon. I just picked up the Explorer today. Really enjoying it. Now I know why there is such a following for it.

I think I will have to bite the bullet and get it. Do you find it good for microadjustments? I never take watches off bracelets and that's why I find it hard to justify the price.

It's great for doing the micro adjustment where the ez link is. Useful for taking the bracelet off to clean the watch once in a while too. Seems expensive but definitely nice to have. Especially if you own more than one Rolex. Or plan to.

Congrats Fraz! I got mine end of last month in the UK. Paid retail as well but was able to save on tax as l don’t live there. Very happy with it. Enjoy yours for a long time!

If you like it, buy it.

Don’t stress about value retention. The reality is that it will drop in the short-term if you tried to resell it. If you had to fire sale it quickly it might go for ~5200-5500.

19% VAT return?

That's still $5,612 in USD at today's exchange rates. A great price for sure but only makes sense if you're already in the EU and need the watch!

I also wear / love the EXP 1. I got it at a local AD with a reasonable 10% discount - I would have still wanted the watch without the discount though.

If you want it, buy it. When the times comes to sell it you'll get the amount the buyer is willing to pay and the the price you are willing to accept. No crystal ball when it comes to that.

Don't see too big of a deal with paying full retail. I'd just try to avoid paying the tax on this one. I talked to one of my local ADs and they told me that they are giving 0 discounts now on the steel sports stuff but they are willing to ship the watches out of state to avoid the tax costs.

You're probably not going to sell this beauty anyway and if you do you'll take a bit of a loss but oh well. I would not spend retail on an Explorer II, way too much depreciation but on other models it's ok.

Is that in USD? That would be expensive for us over here.

That is more than Canadian MSRP + Taxes.

It's $7,500 CAD + 12% tax = $8,400 CAD tax included. Which is $6,384 USD (0.76$ exchange rate). $600 USD difference than the price you paid.

That's at 0% discount (although there won't be anyways) buying it via your friendly neighbours up North. I picked one up in April.

I was assuming it was CAD. My mistake. 7000 CAD after taxes would be pretty remarkable.

In any case, I paid Ontario taxes, so 7500 + 13% tax

Nope. Up here in Canada if you bought the watch for $7500 + tax and sold that watch a few months after buying it you'd maybe get $6800 CAD for it.

It is a really great watch and one of my favourites that I own.

Here it is again. A little over one month on wrist now. It's been really hard to wear anything else.
Thank you everyone for the nice words.

Not to worry at all.

Hahaha, I just know we have a pretty decent deal here in Canada at MSRP. I know its $6,500 before taxes in the US. Based on today's exchange, we are ahead even if we paid tax unless the US has some decent discount available.

Yeah, I'm not bragging about the price, just saying that to me it's worth retail. I paid $6,550 plus tax. $6,550 is the retail in the US. It would cost me more than $600 to get to Canada anyway.
