I have to agree. The raised numeral bezel and case shape just doesn't do it for me. Although the one with blue dial is sharp, as I love blue dials.

beautiful piece

Rolex has openly stated that the yachtmaster is a beautified version of the sub

It sells well and should be considered a dress watch

I know that dress watches are looked down on by some professional users, but in numbers they are actually the majority of Rolex's sold (inc. DJs, DDs, etc.) and I am sure that the majority of their buyers never come near this or other web forums

Imagine how much happier we would all be with our pieces if we had bought them for love and not because of what we are cajoled to buy !!!

The other two are polished and their case shapes have suffered.

I sold my no date Sub for the Yachtmaster and couldn't be happier. I've only seen 1 other in the wild that I can recall.

Wow, that looks nice. Very dressy.

Can I ask where you got the bracelet? I was thinking of trying to get the newer clasp or new bracelet (Rolex authentic of course if I can find one)for my 2002 YM.

Saw the two-tone yachtmaster with brown dial at an AD last weekend, and it looked incredible. I think the ym is a great alternative to the sub, for those who want something a bit different.

Hi this is the jubilee bracelet for Gmt 16710 and you can try to get from RSC if you bring in your Gmt watch along with you.

They do come up for sales from time to time in sales section.

Give it a try and I think you will love the look and comfort of this bracelet.

I once drove around 100 miles to buy a YM from a jewellers in Blackburn in the north of England but when I got there it was a mid size one.

Rather than go home empty wristed, I opted for a Bluesy.

I do admire the YM’s and can’t really understand their lack of popularity with some folk.

On a Super Jubilee with a roulette date wheel.
There is no watch like the YM giving a tremendous light show in the sunshine. Best summer watch out there

I really like the looks of the 16622 in platinum. I would think it would be a good companion to a black sub for dressier occasions.

Reclaimed VAT so 20% cheaper straight-off with my personal circumstances.

love it. Fits better than my Sub ND, looks better than my white Daytona C

I’m still trying to figure out why no love elsewhere? Is it really the price that is the problem when people will pay premiums to get a hot Rolex? I also gauge from the AD that he was struggling with the design and questioning the beauty of the thing?

How come you were able to reclaim the VAT?

Because I do not reside in the UK

I do not currently have liabilities in the UK with regards to being a tax resident

I asked the dealer for a Form 704

I submitted my documents, box and watch to HMRC Customs inspectors

I reside in a low VAT country with a valid Visa

The watch will not be re-imported back into the UK at any known time in the future.

I tried one on (the blue dial). What a comfortable watch on the wrist. Seeing as I like a splash of colour the sunburst dial and seconds had speak directly to me. The only issues are the bezel insert and the price.

I think it's a beautiful watch. It just doesn't fit logically into my collection because I have too many already of similar or nearly identical sizes, dial layouts and general design. I have chosen a 116613LB for my next watch. A platinum/blue YM was in the running also, but I thought it was time for some TT.

IMO it’s the best bezel Rolex makes. Especially the matte ceramic. I can’t stand how often I have to rub fingerprints off a shiny ceramic bezel. Love the raised numbers on all of them.

It's a beautiful watch, no doubt.

However, I've been told that one reason why it may not be that popular is that the bezel scratches easily and is very costly to replace since it's platinum.

Incidentally, the YM is rated to only 100m, whilst the Sub's rating is 300m, so the two are not directly comparable.

its not a "diving watch" due to the bezel however its the same WR as the original Submariner. These days however people seem to think 100m isnt even sufficient for snorkeling.

The datejust jubilee bracelet should fit the YM. The only thing you need is the smaller spring bar 1.8mm size.

Mine is 62510 H jubilee from my Gmt
