I basically wear my Rolex all the time seven days a week for almost a year. Very little you can’t do with this watch on. The Tudor Is my beater and really gets not enough wrist time. I primarily wearing if I’m doing something particularly high risk that I am concerned I could scratch the surface of the Rolex.

The Omega is vintage from 1962 and belonged to my father. This was quite the fancy dress watch back in the day and it looks incredibly small and delicate now. No wrist time.

I could absolutely go to one watch: the Rolex.

Nice collection you have! That watch of your father’s is amazing; just thinking the emotional value and what that watch has experienced!!

Did I read that right? He scuba dives with a president?

Anyone else catch that toward the end?

I'm a one Rolex guy. My GMT2 BLRO. I pair it with my other watch, an Omega Speedmaster. I like the two watch rotation. One goes on the winder at night, the other goes on my bedside stand.

I would LOVE to have 3 in the rotation. I was lucky enough to get an 114060 from my wife as a gift. I think having one is great. It makes it super easy to decide what to wear in the morning. I am a big fan of the DJ41's and would love to have something with a white face to dress up a bit. My wife said no more watches for at least 5 years (or until she gets one).

I reduced to a white 216570 kinda by operation of how things go, when my girl discovered the 116710 suited wrist her too. But then again I have many non Rolex watches to change to, so doesn’t really count I guess ;)

These are three very different questions that could require long-essay answers:
1. Is it possible to live with only one watch?
Yes, but why? Don't we come here to this forum for the hobby? Affordability should not be an issue because watches are available at all price levels.

2. Anyone owns just one Rolex?
Pretty sure many do on the forum - one Rolex plus others from non-Rolex brands.

3. Pros and Cons (of owning one watch)?
Pro: Only one watch to worry about
Con: Only one watch to admire

It's entirely possible.

In theory, I could probably live with just a Sub, GMT (black), or Explorer as my only watch. Too much of a watch lover to probably ever do that.

Most people actually just own one watch anyway, let alone that one watch being a Rolex.

I believe less is more anyway. I like having connections with my watches and building stories. I've seen people who own a Sub then own multiple other inferior divers. I can understand owning a cheaper alternative but when you have the grail then I'd just be satisfied. I wouldn't want to wear anything else...

Like Jack, I wear the only Rolex I own everyday. It is a birth yr 1971 TT DJ. Why not?

For what it’s worth...If I remember Jack correctly, he said he got his Gold DD in 1967 and has had it for 50 yrs. If 1967 is the yr he got the watch, he would have been ~27 yrs old.

What a great example to look at when someone begins to wonder if they are too young to wear a solid gold watch.

Just sayin...

Although...If a one watch guy...I’d want a backup
Guess I’d be a 2 watch guy at minimum:)
If I’d do it...it’d probably be 6263 Big red Daytona with a SD4K to go along

Yeah! I think it is the same with me: too much loving different kind of (in my case) Rolex watches.. I try to think as a good thing that if you are building a collection with more than one watch, your watches will be in better condition after few years because of the rotation...

I am currently trying to find the origin of my watch obsession and I think it’s because I don’t have the One watch. I think I’m not that into watches but in searching for the ONE, I’ve become obsessed with them in general. I have a Tudor right now that I wear almost every day but honestly I think I just want a new Explorer and I’d be done with it all. I have a Seiko that i wear sometimes but I mostly just wear the Tudor. Yes I’d be fine with just one Rolex.

Shiny objects catch my eye. There’s always another winking back at me!

Great topic. I went down to one Rolex, a 116719, last summer. Someone told me I’d also want a SS for variety and lighter weight. That was true for me. I need a SS and I like to have a PM. Currently, I have 4 total. 2 modern and 2 vintage. Plus a 16710 pepsi Full Set for my son. I don’t want to go down to any fewer. I like variety. 2 watches would be my minimum, and I don’t intend to thin out the collection. It’s my hobby, and I like to trade around.

I have only one Rolex, but I have a few other watches, all of which inexpensive, but I like them.

Mostly, I wear the Rolex. I didn't wait over 35 years for one to keep it put away. It's got honest wear on it and I love it that way.

Oops, not an iPhone or tapatalk. Otherwise easy peassy. On the first post you want to quote hit the "quote sign" next to the work "Quote." Hit that sign for all the posts you want to quote except for the last post you want to quote. For that, the last one, hit the word "Quote." The results will be a post of multiple quotes.
