Also flash update: Wrist is just over 7”. To make a long story a bit longer ... This was actually the first time in my life I measured my wrist, I mean who really has to measure it? Watch models don’t come in band sizes, you buy a watch you like and remove / add links to make it fit. Anyway, so I asked my gf for a tape measure becuase she often measures cloths, I only have the industrial metal ones. She gives me one and to my shock it showed just under 5.5”. There was no reason for me to question it becuase I had no reference of wrist sizes. Last night I revisited her tape measure and her being Chinese, her tape measure used “CUN” aka the “Chinese Inch” which I had never heard of but at a glance really looks like inches. What are the odds. Anyway, after switching it for a tape measure the rest of the planet uses, it measured a fraction over 7”. So my bad for the incorrect info and comparisons but my view still stands. Wear what YOU like! Odds are if someone tells you your watch is too big, it’s more jealousy than an objective opinion. I wear my SD43 more than any others and find it more comfortable not becuase of the size but becuase it weighs less than my DD or AP. I think weight is a much more significant factor to consider than size. But hey, to each their own. |

I was going to agree with the other poster, there is no way your wrist is 5.5". Good job figuring out the correct info!

I have a large wrist (8.5 cm) so naturally I will go for the DD40 ...
but really, for me, I wish there was a DD42 with the new caliber .. J. |

I think they both sizes that look proportioned to your wrist. Becomes a question of whether to err up or down. For me, 36 just feels so unsubstantial.

Yep DD40 without a doubt. On my 6.5 inch wrist its perfect size.
The DD40 wears slightly smaller than a 40mm ceramic sub. |

I agree with what you say with regards to wearing what one likes and, had it been the case - the OP wouldn't be asking for advice on here. Since, he has - he will be presented with different opinions and recommendations according to various posters' preferences/tastes. IMHO, it's about how proportionate a watch looks on the wrist, e.g., the DD40 suits your 7" wrist very well (showing a few bracelet links on both sides, when viewed upfront) and a DD36 would wear similarly on my 6.25" wrist, maintaining the same aesthetics and proportions. I think that DD36 looks better on the OP. |

The reason the 36 wins for me is 'the 9'. On the 40 it's a stick on the 36 it's a roman nine and this is way nicer!
Thus, 36 for me |

The deconstructed romans are the best part about the DD40. Each marker is hand finished and polished so they reflect light like crazy. You would know what I mean if you held one under light its crazy.

I like both. I prefer the better bracelet of the newer DD40 but prefer the dial options of the older DD36. I also lean more towards the heavier feeling DD40(feels like you're getting what you're paying for....that GOLD). And I don't think the size difference is significant enough for one to look too big or too small. Ultimately my choice/vote is DD40.
